Thermo-Hydraulic Performance of Pin-Fins in Wavy and Straight Configurations
Pin-fins configurations have been investigated recently for different engineering applications and, in particular, for a cooling turbine. In the present study, we investigated the performance of three different pin-fins configurations: pin-fins forming a

Operation, Testing and Long Term Behaviour of the LHC Test String Cryogenic System [PDF]
Since the end of 1994 we have been operating a prototype half-cell of the machine lattice, accumulating more than 10,000 hours at superfluid helium temperatures and recovering from 150, mainly provoke d, magnet resistive transitions.

This study examines how manufacturing uncertainties in Curie temperatures (1.5–2°C) affect multilayer active magnetic regenerators (AMR). While increasing the number of magnetocaloric layers boosts cooling power, performance degrades due to temperature variations.

Numerical modelling of slope–vegetation–atmosphere interaction: an overview [PDF]
The behaviour of natural and artificial slopes is controlled by their thermo-hydro-mechanical conditions and by soil–vegetation–atmosphere interaction. Porewater pressure changes within a slope related to variable meteorological settings have been shown ...

Influence of Geometrical Parameters of Open-Cell Aluminum Foam on Thermohydraulic Performance
The influence of the geometry of open-cell aluminum foam on the thermohydraulic behavior in channel flow is investigated. The mean cell diameter and the strut cross-sectional surface area are chosen as geometrical parameters, ranging respectively between 1.2 and 5.2 mm and between 0.0125 and 0.17 mm2.

Superfluid helium as a technical coolant [PDF]
The characteristics of superfluid helium as a technical coolant, which derive from its specific transport properties, are presented with particular reference to the working area in the phase diagram (saturated or pressurised helium II).

The 2D, steady, laminar forced convection of a Carreau hybrid nanofluid (MgO–Ag/water) in a modified T‐shaped cavity with two outlets and a bottom inlet is investigated numerically in current work. The cold nanofluid enters from the inlet at the bottom with Tc$$ {T}_c $$ and velocity uc$$ {u}_c $$, while the vertical L‐shaped walls (W1$$ {W}_1 $$ and ...

Analysis of air impact on aircraft engine lubrication system performance
A distinctive feature of an aircraft gas turbine engine (GTE) oil system is that an oil-air mixture, rather than pure oil, circulates through almost all of its components.

Excitation test results on a single inner vertical coil for the Large Helical Device [PDF]
Excitation experiments on a single inner vertical coil for the Large Helical Device (LHD) were carried out to confirm its performance. The coil is one of the LHD\u27s poloidal field coils and consists of a forced-flow Nb-Ti cable-in-conduit conductor ...
