Advances in Thermokarst Research
Permafrost and Periglacial Processes, 2013ABSTRACTThe term thermokarst describes the processes and landforms that involve collapse of the land surface as a result of the melting of ground ice. We review the literature that has contributed to our understanding of patterns, processes and feedbacks, and the environmental consequences of thermokarst, focusing on hillslope, thaw lake and wetland ...

Permafrost region subsurface organic carbon (OC) pools are a major component of the terrestrial carbon cycle and vulnerable to a warming climate. Thermokarst lagoons are an important transition stage with complex depositional histories during which permafrost and lacustrine carbon pools are transformed along eroding Arctic coasts.

Outwash Plains and Thermokarst on Mars
Icarus, 1995Abstract The spatial distribution of different types of rampart craters on Mars suggests a hemispheric asymmetry in the distribution of ground ice. The northern plains, especially major topographic depressions near the terminations of outflow channels, have high percentages of rampart craters.

Alaskan Thermokarst Terrain and Possible Martian Analog
Science, 1975A first-order analog to martian fretted terrain has been recognized on enhanced, ERTS-1 (Earth Resources Technology Satellite) imagery of Alaskan Arctic thermokarst terrain. The Alaskan analog displays flat-floored valleys and intervalley uplands characteristic of fretted terrain.

THERMOKARST IN THE EASTERN VERKHOYANSK MOUNTAINS
Vestnik of North-Eastern Federal University.

Stochastic Modelling of Thermokarst Lakes
Thermokarst lakes are widespread and dynamic features of ice-rich permafrost landscapes. They accelerate permafrost thaw, enhance methane production, and alter soil hydrology as well as energy and water exchanges between land and atmosphere. These effects can alter local and global climate.Constanze Reinken +5 more

THERMOKARST AND ITS MANIFESTATIONS IN CENTRAL YAKUTIA
