Temperature of a Decoherent Oscillator with Strong Coupling

open access: yes, 2011
The temperature of an oscillator coupled to the vacuum state of a heat bath via ohmic coupling is non-zero, as measured by the reduced density matrix of the oscillator.

Fully Plant‐Based and Optically Transparent Wood Substrates with Improved Thermal Insulating Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
The combination of an eco‐friendly bleaching procedure with the use of a new commercial bio‐based resin used to develop transparent wood (TW) result in a transparency level of 91% at 550 nm, alongside remarkable stability and a ≈50% reduction in thermal conductivity compared to standard glass (≈1 W m·K−1), highlighting its potential as energy‐efficient

Obtaining Orthogonal Thermal Conductivity Components from Anisotropic Thin Films Using the Pseudo Steady‐State 3ω Method

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
Measurement of thin film thermal conductivity is challenging for isotropic materials, but is even more so for films with anisotropic in‐plane properties. This work establishes the pseudo steady‐state 3ω technique as a suitable method to extract orthogonal in‐plane thermal conductivity components from thin films. Abstract Directional characterization of

Hepatic ENTPD5 Is Critical for Maintaining Metabolic Homeostasis and Promoting Brown Adipose Tissue Thermogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ENTPD5‐mediated conversion of extracellular adenosine triphosphate to ADP of hepatocytes is critical for maintaining hepatic glucose/lipid metabolism and promoting brown adipose tissue thermogenesis via the inhibition of adrenomedullin expression and secretion.

A Novel Self‐Regulated, Non‐Directional Magnetic Thermos‐Brachytherapy 125I Seed Enhances Anticancer Efficacy by Rescuing Immune Escape

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work constructs magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and incorporates them with silver rods coated with 125I to form a novel composite seed, which exhibits direction‐independent and self‐regulated heating efficiency, as well as the capacity of preventing MNPs leakage and enabling repeated hyperthermia.
