Accuracy of daily extreme air temperatures under natural variations in thermometer screen ventilation

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters
Accurate air temperatures underpin environmental research. Most professional meteorological air temperature measurements still expose thermometers within traditional, naturally ventilated screens.

Measurement of body temperature in postsurgical children: Comparisons of infrared nonskin contact digital thermometer, skin contact digital thermometer, and mercury in glass thermometer

open access: yesJournal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, 2021
Context: Postoperative fever is known to occur after all surgical procedures irrespective of the type of anesthesia. Thermometry devices that work without touching or disturbing the child seem to be appreciated more than the conventional skin contact ...

Mercury and thermometers.

open access: yesSouth African medical journal = Suid-Afrikaanse tydskrif vir geneeskunde, 2005
Many colleagues who have worked in casualty departments or emergency rooms will have encountered anxious parents bearing fragments of glass thermometers that do not include the mercury-containing bulb, and whose children are presumably suffering from indigestion or worse. Many of those colleagues will have found the parental anxiety infectious. Mercury

Engineering the Hierarchical Porosity of Granular Hydrogel Scaffolds Using Porous Microgels to Improve Cell Recruitment and Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
By fabricating and covalently assembling gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) porous microgels, a new class of granular hydrogel scaffolds with hierarchical porosity is developed. These scaffolds have a significantly higher void fraction than their counterparts made up of nonporous microgels, enhancing cell recruitment and tissue integration. This research may

Influence of Hysteresis on Magnetocaloric Performance at Cryogenic Temperatures: A Tb3Ni Case Study

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The existence of an inverse magnetocaloric effect in metamagnetic materials at cryogenic temperatures is investigated using multiple methods. Contrary to predictions from magnetization data, neither specific heat nor pulsed‐field measurements show such a cooling effect, instead indicating irreversible heating.

A study on infrared thermometer measurement capabilities in the calibration laboratories and the user community in Japan

open access: yesSICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration, 2021
A comparison circulating a standard infrared thermometer, a handy infrared thermometer, and a thermal imager was conducted among eleven participants from the industrial user, academic user, and calibration laboratory communities of these thermometers in ...

Sub-Kelvin resistance thermometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A device capable of accurate temperature measurement down to 0.01 K of a particular object is discussed. The device is comprised of the following: a heat sink wafer; a first conducting pad bonded near one end of the heat sink wafer; a second conducting ...

Functionals of Brownian bridges arising in the current mismatch in D/A-converters

open access: yes, 2008
Digital-to-analog converters (DAC) transform signals from the abstract digital domain to the real analog world. In many applications, DAC's play a crucial role.

3D Porous Metal‐Scaffold Interdigitated Micro‐Electrodes for High‐Performance On‐Chip Energy Storage Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Porous 3D copper scaffold‐based interdigitated electrodes are developed via dynamic hydrogen bubble templating, enabling high‐performance Zn‐ion micro‐batteries and micro‐supercapacitors. This strategy significantly boosts charge storage performance, advancing the design of next‐generation on‐chip energy storage systems.
