ABSTRACT This study indicates a seasonal aggregation behaviour in Blacktip (Carcharhinus limbatus) and Spinner (C. brevipinna) sharks over 6 years of data in Ilha Grande Bay, a warm temperate bay in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Observations from visual surveys, drone footage and Baited Remote Underwater Video (BRUV) deployments revealed mixed‐species ...

X-ray emission from high temperature plasmas [PDF]
The physical processes occurring in plasma focus devices were studied. These devices produce dense high temperature plasmas, which emit X rays of hundreds of KeV energy and one to ten billion neutrons per pulse.

Abstract Boreal forests fix substantial amounts of atmospheric carbon (C). However, the timescales at which this C is cycled through the ecosystem are not yet well understood. To elucidate the temporal dynamics between photosynthesis, allocation and respiration, we assessed the radiocarbon (C14 ${}^{14}\mathrm{C}$) disequilibrium (D) between different ...

Faraday Cups: Principles, Designs, and Applications Across Scientific Disciplines—A Review
Beam diagnostics are essential tools for monitoring the performance of charged particle beams and the safe operation of particle accelerators. The performance of an accelerator is determined by evaluating the properties of beam particles, such as energy,

Comparative evaluation of solar, fission, fusion, and fossil energy resources, part 3 [PDF]
The role of nuclear fission reactors in becoming an important power source in the world is discussed. The supply of fissile nuclear fuel will be severely depleted by the year 2000. With breeder reactors the world supply of uranium could last thousands of

An optimized AC side startup strategy of E‐STATCOM for ITER pulsed power electrical network
In this article, an energy consumption optimization startup strategy of E‐STATCOM system using supercapacitor energy storage based MMC is proposed. This startup strategy avoids the use of current limiting resistors in supercapacitor energy storage circuits and reduces additional energy loss.
