Fast and Invertible Simplicial Approximation of Magnetic‐Following Interpolation for Visualizing Fusion Plasma Simulation Data

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, Volume 44, Issue 3, June 2025.
Abstract We introduce a fast and invertible approximation for fusion plasma simulation data represented as 2D planar meshes with connectivities approximating magnetic field lines along the toroidal dimension in deformed 3D toroidal spaces. Scientific variables (e.g., density and temperature) in these fusion data are interpolated following a complex ...

Radiation damage of nuclear structural materials and fusion reactor materials problems

open access: yes, 1996
Bombardment of a solid by nuclear radiation causes alterations in its physical properties. The damage pattern and some of the resulting effects may be remarkably different, depending upon the type of bombarding particles, their energy and their charge ...

Analysis of Solar Radiation Shielding in Space for Climate Mitigations of the Earth

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 4, Page 1653-1661, April 2025.
Space solar shielding over the Earth. ABSTRACT Solar radiation modification (SRM) through space solar shielding is a proposed strategy to mitigate global warming. This approach involves reflecting sunlight back into space while allowing Earth's infrared radiation to escape, thereby controlling climate change.

Poisoning Mechanism Map for Metal Hydride Hydrogen Storage Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 11, Issue 43, November 20, 2024.
The poisoning mechanisms of impurity gases on hydrogen storage materials are classified into two basic categories. During hydrogenation, inactive gases cause a minimal blanket effect by physically obstructing H2 diffusion in H2‐impurity mixed gas, while active gases significantly poison materials by chemically limiting H2 absoprtion at interface.

Limitations of Hydrogen Detection After 150 Years of Research on Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 26, Issue 19, October 2024.
This article reviews the phenomenon of hydrogen embrittlement in metallurgy, tracing its historical origins and examining experimental limitations in detecting hydrogen at nanoatomic scales. It evaluates theoretical models and proposes that further development of experimental science is needed to either validate or disprove current HE theories ...

An experimental comparison of contributions in collective prevention games and public goods games

open access: yesEconomic Inquiry, Volume 62, Issue 4, Page 1598-1617, October 2024.
Abstract In many collective action problems individuals' contributions increase the probability of a collectively favorable event rather than affect the quantity of public goods provided. Such problems, that we refer to as collective prevention games, remain largely unexplored in the literature.

Rapid chemical separations for thermal neutron activation analysis of niobium and vanadium and application to controlled thermonuclear reactor materials studies

open access: yesJournal of Radioanalytical Chemistry, 1977
Procedures are described for rapid, high yield chemical separation of niobium and vanadium from surfaces of quartz, silicon, and carbon following thermal neutron activation. Practical detection limits for stable niobium and vanadium are 7·1010 and 6·1011 atoms respectively.

Neutronics and mass transport in a chemical reactor associated with controlled thermonuclear fusion reactor

open access: yes, 1976
The formation of ozone from oxygen and the dissociation carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide and oxygen is studied in a gamma-neutron chemical process blanket associated with a controlled thermonuclear reactor.
