Soliton-like thermophoresis of graphene wrinkles
Nanoscale, 2013We studied the thermophoretic motion of wrinkles formed in substrate-supported graphene sheets by nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations. We found that a single wrinkle moves along applied temperature gradient with a constant acceleration that is linearly proportional to temperature deviation between the heating and cooling sides of the graphene

Thermophoresis in protein solutions
Europhysics Letters (EPL), 2003Thermophoresis, unlike thermal diffusion in simple mixtures, consists in particle drift induced by a temperature gradient ∇T. We show that thermophoresis in lysozyme solutions has a very distinctive behavior: particle motion can indeed be tuned from "thermophobic" (towards the cold) to "thermophilic" (along ∇T) by decreasing T. The observed temperature

Quantifying CBM–Carbohydrate Interactions Using Microscale Thermophoresis
2017MicroScale Thermophoresis (MST) is an emerging technology for studying a broad range of biomolecular interactions with high sensitivity. The affinity constant can be obtained for a wide range of molecules within minutes based on reactions in microliters.

Thermophoresis in Colloidal Suspensions
2018This dissertation examines the motion of colloids in a temperature gradient, a non-equilibrium phenomenon also known as thermophoresis. Chapter 1 gives an introduction to the existing applications and basic concepts of thermophoresis and outlines some of the experimental and theoretical challenges that serve as a motivation for this PhD project.

Biotechnological applications of thermophoresis
2011For over 150 years it is known that particles in a temperature gradient conduct a directed movement. This is called the Soret effect or thermophoresis. Still the underlying physical principles of thermophoresis in aqueous solutions are not totally understood.

Aptamer Binding Studies Using MicroScale Thermophoresis
2016The characterization and development of highly specific aptamers requires the analysis of the interaction strength between aptamer and target. MicroScale Thermophoresis (MST) is a rapid and precise method to quantify biomolecular interactions in solution at microliter scale.
