Extrusion of monofilaments of thermoplastic elastomers
Synthetic Metals, 2005Abstract Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are widely used in extrusion of weatherseals, tubes and hoses, protective coating for optical fibres and other extruded products. However they are not a common material for fibres’ extrusion. This work presents the results of a pilot study of extrusion of TPEs fibres.

Solid‐phase backward extrusion of thermoplastics
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1982Abstract The backward extrusion process was studied as a means of forming projections and ribs on flat sections of thermoplastic parts. The simplified, open‐die axisymmetric and plane‐strain extrusion cases were mainly considered. The results were applied to the development of a continuous solid‐phase‐forming process. Commercial‐grade

Maleated thermoplastic starch by reactive extrusion
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2008Novel maleated thermoplastic starch (MTPS) with both improved processing and reactivity useful in the melt-blending with biodegradable polyester was prepared through in situ reactive modification of thermoplastic starch (TPS) with maleic anhydride (MA) as esterification agent. Glycerol was used as plasticizer.

Bubble Growth in Thermoplastic Foam Extrusion
Porous, Cellular and Microcellular Materials, 1998Abstract A condensed review will be presented regarding the bubble growth study. A modified model fitting to foam extrusion system will be discussed. The improved model focuses on the influence of blowing agent on bubble growth during thermoplastic foam extrusion.

Thermoplastic extrusion of bulk metallic glass
Scripta Materialia, 2009Extrusion of Zr 44 Ti 11 Cu 10 Ni 10 Be 25 bulk metallic glass in its supercooled liquid state is explored as a method to create objects of a fixed cross-sectional profile. The effect of processing parameters and extrusion geometries on the extrusion length is determined. The results reveal the nature of the flow process as creeping flow.

Foam Extrusion of Thermoplastic Elastomeric Alloys
Cellular Polymers, 1988The new elastomeric alloys such as Monsanto's Santoprene thermoplastic rubber (A class of TPE) can be formed during extrusion by the use of a chemical blowing agent or by the use of a fluorocarbon blowing agent to provide products with characteristics superior to foamed vulcanised rubber.

Extrusion coating of plywood with thermoplastics
Plastics, Rubber and Composites Processing and Applications, 1998In the present work plywood has been coated with polypropylene rather than the traditional coating material, thermoset. A modified extrusion coating process was applied with the aim of achieving adequate adhesion between the plywood and the thermoplastic.

Nucleation in Thermoplastic Foam Extrusion
Cellular and Microcellular Materials, 1994Abstract Continuous foam nucleation experiments were performed on a twin screw extruder capable of making foam sheet. Nucleation results are compared to the Lump Cavity Model which was proposed to describe nucleation in thermoplastic foam extrusion.

Screw extrusion of thermoplastics: I. General model of the screw extrusion
Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry, 2012New approach to a simulation of single and twin screw extruders for thermoplastics processing was suggested. The approach takes into account real boundary geometric conditions and conditions on velocity (a screw is rotated, cylinder is fixed), and also that there exist phase transformations of the processed material and its heat exchange with surfaces ...

Extrusion of Cellular Thermoplastics
1982Extrudates made from cellular plastics may be produced by using both chemical and physical expansion systems. Both free expansion and controlled expansion techniques are employed to produce pipe, cable, profile, etc. The relevance of each system when based on a particular polymer-product combination is discussed and where appropriate, formulations ...
