Strain influence on the diffusion thermopower in Bi wires

open access: yesMoldavian Journal of the Physical Sciences, 2018
We present the results of studies of the thermopower in glass-coated Bi wires under the action of uniaxial deformation. At the liquid helium temperature, thin Bi wires exhibit large positive thermopower values, which are dominated by the diffusive ...

Enhancing the thermoelectric figure of merit in engineered graphene nanoribbons

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2015
We demonstrate that thermoelectric properties of graphene nanoribbons can be dramatically improved by introducing nanopores. In monolayer graphene, this increases the electronic thermoelectric figure of merit ZTe from 0.01 to 0.5.

Thermopower and Nernst measurements in a half-filled lowest Landau level

open access: yes, 2018
Motivated by recent proposal by Potter et al. [Phys. Rev. X 6, 031026 (2016)] concerning possible thermoelectric signatures of Dirac composite fermions, we perform a systematic experimental study of thermoelectric transport of an ultrahigh-mobility GaAs ...

Self‐Maintained Thermal Charging Cells for the Efficient Harvesting of Waste Heat at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Thermal charging cells (TCS) face two main challenges that limit their practical applications: 1) Still lacking the systems suitable for operation under higher temperature environments, and 2) there are limitations in the self‐sustaining performance of continuous discharge under temperature differences, which holds critical significance for the real ...

Solid solubility of Mg and enhanced electrical conduction in the C-axis orientation of CuCr1-xMgxO2 polycrystals

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2020
The c-axis orientation of CuCr1-xMgxO2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.08) ceramics was prepared through solid-state reactions. The effects of a Mg solid solution in CuCrO2 have been investigated in terms of electrical conductivity, thermopower, and microstructure. While x =

Skewed non-Fermi liquids and the Seebeck effect

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
We consider non-Fermi liquids in which the inelastic scattering rate has an intrinsic particle-hole asymmetry and obeys ω/T scaling. We show that, in contrast to Fermi liquids, this asymmetry influences the low-temperature behavior of the thermopower ...

A Transport and Microwave Study of Superconducting and Magnetic RuSr2EuCu2O8 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We have performed susceptibility, thermopower, dc resistance and microwave measurements on RuSr2EuCu2O8. This compound has recently been shown to display the coexistence of both superconducting and magnetic order. We find clear evidence of changes in the

Fermi Surface Structure Revealed by Quantum Oscillations in Half‐Heusler Semimetal LuAuSn

open access: yesRare Metals, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Fermi surface structure in the half‐Heusler semimetallic compound LuAuSn was systematically investigated using quantum oscillation studies of high‐quality single crystals and first‐principles calculations. Clear bulk quantum oscillation signals were observed for multiple complementary physical properties, including magnetization, Hall ...
