Spinal cord stimulation in chronic pain: evidence and theory for mechanisms of action. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Well-established in the field of bioelectronic medicine, Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) offers an implantable, non-pharmacologic treatment for patients with intractable chronic pain conditions. Chronic pain is a widely heterogenous syndrome with regard to

Disease Progression Mathematical Modeling With a Case Study on Hepatitis B Virus Infection

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 420-434, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Chronic Hepatitis B presents a significant health and socioeconomic burden. The risk of hepatocellular carcinoma remains elevated although treatments are available. Achieving an optimal treatment regimen necessitates a deep comprehension of the dynamic relationship between the virus and its host across disease states.

Electrophysiological analysis of transcranial direct current stimulation and its effect on cortical spreading depression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS) allows for the noninvasive modulation of cortical activity. In this study, the effects of cathodal and anodal TDCS treatment on baseline activity in the motor cortex of rats were investigated via ...

High‐Brightness Delayed Imaging Realized by Embedding Zinc Gallate Nanocrystals Into Glass

open access: yesRare Metals, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT X‐ray delayed imaging technology leverages an “irradiation‐storage‐thermally stimulated readout” mode, demonstrating unique advantages in intermittent monitoring scenarios such as high‐temperature/high‐radiation environments. This typically requires materials combining abundant carrier‐trapping energy levels with structural thermostability ...

Cortical spectral dynamics of vibrotactile frequency processing

open access: yesScientific Reports
While scientific research has extensively explored how the brain integrates touch and pain signals, the cerebral processing of specific vibrotactile frequencies remains poorly understood.

Efficacy of different types of transcranial magnetic stimulation on post-stroke aphasia patients: a network meta-analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
ObjectiveTo evaluate the comparative efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for post-stroke aphasia through a network meta-analysis (NMA).MethodsWe systematically searched four international databases (PubMed, Cochrane Library ...

Non‐Invasive Brain Stimulation in Chronic Pain: Current Evidence, Network Perspectives and Paths to Personalization

open access: yesSensory Neuroscience, EarlyView.
Chronic pain reflects maladaptive network interactions across sensory, salience/affective, and descending modulatory pathways. We review evidence for non‐invasive brain stimulation—rTMS, tES, and low‐intensity focused ultrasound—highlighting modest, variable, and often short‐lived analgesic effects under conventional protocols.

Performance feedback and change in R&D alliance portfolio breadth: The moderating role of economic conditions

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary We investigate how firm performance feedback and economic conditions (upturns and downturns) impact changes in the breadth of partner types within a firm's R&D alliance portfolio (R&D AP breadth). We theorize that economic conditions moderate firms' motivation to change R&D AP breadth in response to social and historical ...

Solvent‐Mediated Dewetting Principles for Cell‐Sized Liposome Formation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Dynamics of solvent‐mediated dewetting for giant unilamellar liposome formation. Solvent removal, through changing lipid packing and membrane tension, is shown to induce partial dewetting into equilibrium low and high budding angle morphologies. Complete dewetting requires mechanical force, quantified using optical tweezers.

Live Imaging of Silver Nanostructures Electrochemically Dissolving at Open‐Circuit Potential

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Stability of electrocatalysts as used in energy conversion systems is pivotal for sustainable technologies, yet degradation dynamics at the nanoscale remain elusive. Harnessing beam‐effect corrected electrochemical liquid phase electron microscopy combined with correlative bulk‐scale electrochemical testing reveals silver corrosion on platinum under ...
