A comparative study of measurement-based Thevenin equivalents identification methods
2014 North American Power Symposium (NAPS), 2014With the development of phasor measurement units (PMU), real-time voltage stability monitoring techniques using phasor measurements have been widely discussed in the past decade. For various measurement-based techniques, the fundamental idea behind them is to identify the Thevenin equivalents (TE) of the outer system seen from the nodes/areas of ...

Thevenin equivalent circuit parameter estimation for the PCC upstream system
2015 5th International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies (DRPT), 2015The Thevenin equivalent circuit parameters for the upstream system seen at a load bus plays an important role in the power system operation and planning. In order to accurately estimate the Thevenin equivalent parameters for the upstream supply system, an estimation method not requiring synchronized measurement is used in this paper.

Adaptive undervoltage load shedding relay design using Thevenin equivalent estimation
2008 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting - Conversion and Delivery of Electrical Energy in the 21st Century, 2008Power transmission systems of today are operating closer to their limit. In the event of a developing blackout, the disconnection of loads under controlled conditions can maintain system's stability. Undervoltage load shedding (UVLS) is an economical solution to the voltage stability problem, and provides protection for unusual disturbances outside the

Analysis of 2D lumped circuit by equivalent Thevenin source method
14th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar and Wireless Communications. MIKON - 2002. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat.No.02EX562), 2003This paper presents an equivalent Thevenin source (ETS) method for analysis of two-dimensional (2D) circuits. The analysis is based on the decomposition of a 2D RLGC circuit into cascade-connected ladder subnetworks with 2L ports. For each ladder subnetwork, corresponding transmission matrices are counted and all previous subnetworks are than ...

Modeling of voltage source converters in microgrids using equivalent thevenin circuit
2018 9th Annual Power Electronics, Drives Systems and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC), 2018In this paper, a new modelling approach based on the equivalent Thevenin circuit is proposed for voltage source converters in islanded microgrids. The proposed method approximate the entire network connected to the voltage source converter with an equivalent Thevenin circuit. The equivalent circuit is first considered with a non-dynamic impedance. This

2009 52nd IEEE International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2009
A new two-terminal circuit modeling is presented. This equivalent circuit, called Hybrid equivalent circuit or simply H-model, can replace a Thevenin or a Norton equivalent circuit, which both are shown to be two special cases of an H-model. The H-model contains both voltage and current sources and is shown to be very flexible and dynamic. For students
