Thermoelectric Modules Incorporating MgAgSb and Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 Synthesized Using a Melting Method

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable synthesis method for a thermoelectric material of MgAgSb is established. A thermoelectric power module of MgAgSb/Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 is fabricated, showing the conversion efficiency of 7.4% at ΔT = 315 K. The performance is comparable to conventional Bi2Te3 modules when they are operated with an air‐cooled heat exchanger.

Accuracy of the TRIA3 thick shell element [PDF]

open access: yes
The accuracy of the new TRIA3 thick shell element is assessed via comparison with a theoretical solution for thick homogeneous and honeycomb flat simply supported plates under the action of a uniform pressure load. The theoretical thick plate solution is

Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Electromagnetic semitransparent $\delta$-function plate: Casimir interaction energy between parallel infinitesimally thin plates

open access: yes, 2012
We derive boundary conditions for electromagnetic fields on a $\delta$-function plate. The optical properties of such a plate are shown to necessarily be anisotropic in that they only depend on the transverse properties of the plate.

Multilayered plating thickness. Final report [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
A nondestructive technique utilizing the X-ray fluorescence spectrometer has been developed for measuring the thickness of both single and multiple layers of plating. Thickness standards and calibration curves also have been developed to support the measurements. Mathematical models for equating the intensity of the fluorescent radiation to the plating
