Predictors of colorectal carcinoma and inflammatory bowel disease in patients with colonic wall thickening

open access: yesJGH Open, 2022
Background and Aim Colonic wall thickening (CWT) is commonly associated with clinically significant pathologies, but predictive factors of such pathologies are not well known.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Differential diagnosis of thickened myocardium: an illustrative MRI review

open access: yesInsights into Imaging, 2018
Objectives The purpose of this article is to describe the key cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features to differentiate hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) phenotypes from other causes of myocardial thickening that may mimic them. Conclusions Many

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Enhanced dynamic impact resistance of UHMWPE fabrics impregnated with double-thickening shear thickening fluid

open access: yesDefence Technology
Inspired by the thermal stability mechanism of thermophilic protein, which presents ionic bonds that have better stability at higher temperatures, this paper proposes the introduction of electrostatic interactions by adding carboxyl-modified silica (C ...

Pleural thickening on screening chest X-rays: a single institutional study

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2019
Although pleural thickening is a common finding on routine chest X-rays, its radiological and clinical features remain poorly characterized. Our investigation of 28,727 chest X-rays obtained from annual health examinations confirmed that pleural ...

Shear Thickening and Scaling of the Elastic Modulus in a Fractal Colloidal System with Attractive Interactions

open access: yes, 2008
Dilute oil dispersions of fractal carbon black particles with attractive Van der Waals interactions display continuous shear thickening followed by shear thinning at high shear rates. The shear thickening transition occurs at $\dot\gamma_{c}\approx 10^{2}
