A canonical thickening of ℚ and the entropy ofα-continued fraction transformations
Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems, 2011AbstractWe construct a countable family of open intervals contained in (0,1] whose endpoints are quadratic surds and such that their union is a full measure set. We then show that these intervals are precisely the monotonicity intervals of the entropy ofα-continued fractions, thus proving a conjecture of Nakada and Natsui.

Diaphragm fatigue (DF) has been implicated in respiratory failure in diseases that increase inspiratory resistance loading (IRL) and may complicate weaning of patients from mechanical ventilation. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of dobutamine administration (10 micro g/kg/min) on DF and to identify the mechanisms by which dobutamine

Shear thickening of cementitious suspensions: effect of high-volume fraction and hydration
Magazine of Concrete ResearchThe lubrication layer (LL) formed at the concrete–pipe interface plays a crucial role in facilitating concrete pumping. Shear thickening in this layer significantly affects concrete pumping. However, very few studies are available for understanding the onset and intensity of shear thickening of the LL.

Mildly refined fractions of yellow peas show rich behaviour in thickened oil-in-water emulsions
Innovative Food Science & Emerging Technologies, 2017Abstract Conventional fractionation processes aim at high ingredient purity, leading to large water, chemicals and energy consumption. However, as most food product consist of mixtures of ingredients, it is questionable if this high purity is always be necessary. Mild fractionation makes use of the natural organization of the main components present.
