Multi-Material Front Contact for 19% Thin Film Solar Cells

open access: yes, 2016
The trade-off between transmittance and conductivity of the front contact material poses abottleneck for thin film solar panels. Normally, the front contact material is a metal oxide and the optimal cell configuration and panel efficiency were determined

Conductive Tin Oxide Under the Thermal Budget of Perovskite/TOPCon Tandems: Toward Indium‐Free Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that achieving conductive undoped SnOx contacts required careful tailoring of oxygen vacancy (VO) tuning and defect engineering. Controlling oxygen deposition pressure and low‐temperature annealing (300°C) optimizes defect stoichiometry and mitigates carrier scattering. This low thermal budget approach significantly enhances Hall

Breaking Optical Transparency and Electromagnetic Performance Trade‐Offs for Transparent Reflective Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A theory‐guided magnetoelectric metasurface design breaks the conventional optical transparency and electromagnetic performance trade‐offs. By preserving the electric and magnetic current paths required for efficient reflection through fine‐metal‐line structure, the developed transparent reflective metasurface achieves high optical transparency without

Spectral Splitting Using Luminescent Solar Concentrator Lightguides

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Attaching selective reflectors to the edges of a luminescent solar concentrator containing two different fluorescent dyes makes it possible to parse the incident white light spectrum into two separate edge emission wavelengths. Separation may be enhanced by aligning the dichroic dyes on the lightguide surface.

Photoactive and Ultrastable Silicon/Boron Doped Diamond Photoanodes Enable Longstanding Photoinduced Electrochemiluminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a highly durable n‐Si/BDD photoanode for photoinduced electrochemiluminescence that entirely circumvents conventional interfacial passivation. By delivering a stable photovoltage under near‐infrared irradiation, the heterojunction facilitates low‐potential optical upconversion.

Post‐Deposition Photonic Curing Treatment for Improved Sb2Se3 Photovoltaic Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Millisecond‐scale photonic curing overcomes the open‐circuit voltage deficit in Sb2Se3 solar cells by transforming the rear interface. This ultrafast treatment enhances crystallographic texture and smooths the absorber surface, suppressing interfacial recombination and boosting power conversion efficiency to 8.2%.
