Thin-film solar cell

open access: yes, 1998
The invention relates to a thin-film solar cell provided with at least one p-i-n junction comprising at least one p-i junction which is at an angle alpha with that surface of the thin-film solar cell which collects light during operation and at least one i-n junction which is at an angle beta with the light-collecting surface.

Selenium Thin-Film Solar Cell

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1982
A new selenium thin-film solar cell of superior performance has been developed. The cell incorporates an SnO2/CdSe/Se/Au structure and is fabricated at 250°C or lower by vacuum evaporation only. The maximum efficiency is attained at 60°C, and its value is 4.6% for an AM 1 (Air Mass 1), 100 mW/cm2. This indicates the possibility of using the cell at

Microcrystalline Organic Thin‐Film Solar Cells

Advanced Materials, 2013
Microcrystalline organic films with tunable thickness are produced directly on an indium-tin-oxide substrate, by crystallizing a thin amorphous rubrene film followed by its use as a template for subsequent homoepitaxial growth. These films, with exciton diffusion lengths exceeding 200 nm, produce solar cells with increasing photocurrents at thicknesses

Thin‐film solar cells

Progress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, 1995
AbstractThe R&D status of cells and modules based on hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a‐Si:H) and those based on CdTe and CuInSe2is reviewed. The stability of a‐Si:H solar cells is still a major concern. Improvements have been achieved on an empirical basis by application of multijunction structures, optimization of interfaces, etc.

Thin film solar cells

Electronics and Power, 1980
Until recently, photovoltaic cells were only used for specialised electricity generation such as power for spacecraft. With the prospect of advanced cells and mass-production techniques, large-scale production of electricity seems to be an economically viable prospect within the next ...
