On measurement of structural intensity in thin-walled structures [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1991
In order to measure structural intensity in a thin-walled structure (shell), one has to employ intensity expressions given in terms of physical quantities that (a) are measurable and (b) refer to the external surface of the shell. These quantities are surface strains and displacements or displacement derivatives—either velocities or accelerations ...

Giant Magnetic Coercivity Driven by Spin‐Bag Ferromagnetism in Epitaxial Sr3YCo4O10+δ Films with Engineered 2D Oxygen Vacancy Ordering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A giant magnetic coercivity and a vertical shift of hysteresis loops are demonstrated in Sr3YCo4O10+δ epitaxial films. The hard magnetic behavior originates from ferromagnetic spin bags stabilized within a long‐range ordered oxygen‐vacancy structure.

Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

Embedded Ferroelectric Nanoclusters Can Drive Polarization Reversal in a Non‐Ferroelectric Polar Film via the Proximity Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric nanoclusters create local internal fields in a normally non‐switchable polar film because of polarization mismatch at their interfaces. That field opposes polarization in the regions with larger polarization and reinforces polarization in the regions with smaller polarization.

Fem and Experimental Analysis of Thin-Walled Composite Elements Under Compression

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2017
Thin-walled steel elements in the form of openwork columns with variable geometrical parameters of holes were studied. The samples of thin-walled composite columns were modelled numerically.

Single‐Step Recovery of Water from Stable Crude Oil‐Water Emulsion Using Surface Engineered Hybrid Inorganic‐Polymer Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic layer deposition is used to conformally surface engineer polymeric membranes to fabricate inorganic–organic hybrid membranes. These membranes have exceptionally strong attraction toward water even in high oil containing emulsions, which leads to an extremely strong hydration layer at the interface.

Design and Manufacture of a Flexible Adaptive Fixture for Precision Grinding of Thin-Walled Bearing Rings

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing
Addressing the issues of easy deformation and difficult-to-control machining accuracy of thin-walled bearing rings during precision grinding due to clamping forces, existing research mainly employs methods such as elastic clamping, hydraulic control ...
