Safety and Efficacy of Direct Cryobiopsy Specimen Retrieval Through the 3.0‐mm Working Channel of a Therapeutic Bronchoscope Using a 1.1‐mm Cryoprobe: A Multicentre Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesRespirology, EarlyView.
Safety and efficacy of direct 1.1‐mm cryobiopsy specimen retrieval through a 3.0‐mm therapeutic bronchoscope channel were evaluated. The technique achieved 87.5% overall diagnostic yield, produced specimens three times larger than forceps biopsy, and caused Grade 3 bleeding in only 2.1%.

Intelligent Continuum Micromachines in Complex Confined Spaces

open access: yesSmartBot, EarlyView.
The cover depicts a conceptual design for an intelligent continuum micromachine entering a target capsule used in fusion‐energy research through its slender gas‐fill tube. By combining route‐adaptive deformation, embedded sensing, and a functional end effector, the robot could inspect hidden defects, assess local conditions, and support localized ...

How I Do It: A Novel Case Series of Office‐Based Laser Complete Excision of Vocal Fold Cysts

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 11, Page 4876-4879, November 2026.
Office‐based complete excision of vocal fold cysts using Trublue laser via transnasal flexible endoscopy is a technically feasible alternative to conventional marsupialization, enabling en bloc removal under local anesthesia with excellent procedural tolerability.

Enhanced estimation strategy for determining the location of tracheoesophageal fistula in a preterm, low-birth-weight infant with congenital esophageal atresia type C and duodenal atresia: a case report

open access: yesJA Clinical Reports
Background In esophageal atresia type C, identifying the tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) location is crucial for airway management. However, a thin bronchoscope may not always be available.

Real‐Time Invasive Hemodynamic Changes During Endobronchial Valve Therapy in Advanced Emphysema: A Prospective Case Series

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 16, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Pulmonary hypertension (PH) in advanced emphysema is associated with worse outcomes and often prompts caution or exclusion from bronchoscopic lung volume reduction. The immediate pulmonary hemodynamic response to endobronchial valve (EBV) deployment has not been characterized using invasive measurements obtained during implantation.

Bronchoscopy Robot with Enhanced Flexibility and Stability via Multi‐Segment Variable Stiffness Catheter

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2026.
This work presents a magnetic bronchoscopy robot with a novel multi‐segment variable stiffness catheter. This catheter can not only move flexibly in the narrow bronchi but also harden according to the need to provide support. Combined with remote wireless magnetic field drive, it provides a more precise and effective solution for biopsy of deep lung ...

Alternative Hybrid Technique of Intubation Using C-MAC and Yankauer Suction Catheter: Case of A Floppy Supraglottic Mass

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Anaesthesiology and Reanimation
Supraglottic masses can be an anaesthesiologist’s nightmare due to the difficult airway scenario and bleeding risk during airway manipulation. Awake fibreoptic intubation is the primary method to secure the airway in such cases.

Evaluating the Efficacy of Thin Convex-probe Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscope in Cadaveric Models

open access: yesJournal of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology
Background: The convex-probe endobronchial ultrasound (CP-EBUS) bronchoscope is widely used in clinical practice. Despite improvements, the existing CP-EBUS remains limited in accessing areas beyond the mediastinum due to its large distal end diameter, long rigid tip segment, and oblique viewing angle.

A novel minimally invasive technique to create a rabbit VX2 lung tumor model for nano-sized image contrast and interventional studies.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BackgroundThe rabbit VX2 lung cancer model is a large animal model useful for preclinical lung cancer imaging and interventional studies. However, previously reported models had issues in terms of invasiveness of tumor inoculation, control of tumor ...

Use of the Ion Robot in the Diagnosis of Pulmonary Nodules: Fine Needle Aspiration Versus Cryobiopsy

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, Volume 54, Issue 8, Page 562-567, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Robotic‐assisted bronchoscopy platforms provide an innovative approach to the sampling of pulmonary nodules. As compared to other technologies, fiber‐optic shape‐sensing instrumentation allows for a more precise, accurate location and sampling of the target lesion with fewer complications.
