Femtosecond Yb:CaGdAlO_4 thin-disk oscillator [PDF]
A mode-locked thin-disk laser based on Yb:CALGO is demonstrated for the first time. At an average output power of 28 W we obtained pulses with a duration of 300 fs and a pulse energy of 1.3 μJ. 197 fs pulses with 0.9 μJ of energy were achieved at an average output power of 20 W.

Thin disk accretion is often modeled in highly dynamical settings using the two-dimensional equations of viscous hydrodynamics, with viscosity representing unresolved turbulence. These equations are supposed to arise after vertical integration of the full three-dimensional equations of hydrodynamics, under the assumption of a geometrically thin disk ...

Accurate disk mass measurements are necessary to constrain disk evolution and the timescale of planet formation, but such measurements are difficult to make and are very dependent on assumptions. Here, we look at the assumption that the disk is optically

Calculation of electrical impedance of oscillating piezoceramic disk in the area of high frequencies
The relevance of the use of various functional elements of piezoelectronics in power and information systems is due primarily to their high reliability. As a result of research of mathematical model of the real device it is possible to define a specific ...

Cr:ZnSe thin disk cw laser [PDF]
Abstract: A Thulium fiber laser pumped or diode laser stack pumped Cr:ZnSe thin disk cw InP multimode laser at 2.4 µm with an output power of 5 and 4 W, respectively, and - with optical-tooptical efficiencies of 10% will be presented. An experimentally verified and numerically simulated thermal lens ing induced and cyclic instability in the laser ...

THE MAGNESIUM ABUNDANCE IN THE THIN AND THICK DISK OF THE GALAXY
The chemical evolution of the thin and thick disk of our Galaxy was investigated in framework of the opened model with gas inflow. It was supposed that the thin and thick disks separate chemically and spatially and have different evolution timescales ...

Structural and signaling proteins in the Z-disk and their role in cardiomyopathies
The sarcomere is the smallest functional unit of muscle contraction. It is delineated by a protein-rich structure known as the Z-disk, alternating with M-bands.

Thick-disk evolution induced by the growth of an embedded thin disk [PDF]
We perform collisionless N-body simulations to investigate the evolution of the structural and kinematical properties of simulated thick disks induced by the growth of an embedded thin disk.

Thin disk kinematics from RAVE and the solar motion [PDF]
Aims. We study the Milky Way thin disk with the Radial Velocity Experiment (RAVE) survey. We consider the thin and thick disks as different Galactic components and present a technique to statistically disentangle the two populations.
