Heat treatment parameters critically affect the wear resistance of powder bed fusion–laser beam (PBF‐LB)‐produced Ti–6Al–2Sn–4Zr–6Mo alloy. This study found that optimizing annealing temperature allows to obtain a tailored microstructure, which enhances the dry‐sliding behavior by forming a stable and functional mechanically mixed layer (MML), ensuring

Spatial hole burning in thin-disk lasers and twisted-mode operation
Spatial hole burning prevents single-frequency operation of thin-disk lasers when the thin disk is used as a folding mirror. We present an evaluation of the saturation effects in the disk for disks acting as end-mirrors and as folding-mirrors explaining ...

THE THICKENING OF THE THIN DISK IN THE THIRD GALACTIC QUADRANT [PDF]
In the third Galactic quadrant (180 < l < 270) of the Milky Way, the Galactic thin disk exhibits a significant warp ---shown both by gas and young stars--- bending down a few kpc below the formal Galactic plane (b=0). This warp shows its maximum at 240, in the direction of the Canis Major constellation.

Linking Heat Treatment to Plastic Deformation in Pearlitic Steels Through Mesoscale Modeling
Surface wear on rail and wheel steels results from surface deformation during use. This research uses mathematical models to forecast the plastic behavior of pearlitic steels, connected to the microstructure formed during heat treatment. While the cooling rate impacts the steels’ strength, the size of prior austenite grains and blocks does not ...

Kinematics of Cataclysmic Variables in the Solar Neighborhood in the Gaia Era
Using high-precision astrometric data from Gaia DR3 and updated systemic velocities from the literature, the kinematical properties of cataclysmic variables (CVs) were investigated. By constraining the data according to the total space velocity error and

On the stability of general relativistic geometric thin disks
The stability of general relativistic thin disks is investigated under a general first order perturbation of the energy momentum tensor. In particular, we consider temporal, radial and azimuthal "test matter" perturbations of the quantities involved on ...

In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

OPEN CLUSTERS AND FIELD CEPHEIDS IN THE GALACTIC DISK – CONTRADICTIONS IN PROPERTIES
The comparative analysis of the abundances of α-process elements, elements of the rapid and the slow neutron capture and iron in the open stellar clusters, field Cepheids, and also in red giants and dwarfs of the thin disk has been performed. The found

A Proper Motion Survey for White Dwarfs with the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2
We have performed a search for halo white dwarfs as high proper motion objects in a second epoch WFPC2 image of the Groth-Westphal strip. We identify 24 high proper motion objects with mu > 0.014 ''/yr.
