STAR FORMATION HISTORY IN THE GALACTIC THIN DISK

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2007
We analyze the relations between the relative magnesium abundances in stars, [Mg/Fe], and their metallicities, Galactic orbital elements, and ages. The relative magnesium abundances in metal-poor thin-disk stars have been found to systematically decrease

Scalable Manufacturing of Radiation‐Tolerant Potentiometric Electrodes: A Systematic Transition from Laboratory to Semiautomated Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laboratory protocols for producing thin‐film pH electrodes for sterilized single‐use technologies have been successfully developed into a semiautomated workflow, with higher throughput and precision of membrane thickness. Accuracies are within 0.05 pH units versus ground truth, and uncertainty analysis reveals the largest sources of error to be derived

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

OPEN CLUSTERS AND FIELD CEPHEIDS IN THE GALACTIC DISK – CONTRADICTIONS IN PROPERTIES

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2013
The comparative analysis of the abundances of  α-process elements, elements of the  rapid and the slow neutron capture and iron in the open stellar clusters, field Cepheids, and also in red giants and dwarfs of the thin disk has been performed. The found

Simulation of the total efficiency of cylindrical scintillation gamma-ray detectors for disk sources [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Technology and Radiation Protection, 2010
The total efficiency of cylindrical scintillation γ-ray detectors has been determined using a novel, primary interaction based Monte Carlo algorithm. With the use of biasing in these simulations, this approach has been made computationally efficient ...

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.

The age structure of stellar populations in the solar vicinity. Clues of a two-phase formation history of the Milky Way disk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We analyze high quality abundances data of solar neighborhood stars and show that there are two distinct regimes of [alpha/Fe] versus age which we identify as the epochs of the thick and thin disk formation. A tight correlation between metallicity and [alpha/Fe] versus age is clearly identifiable on thick disk stars, implying that this population ...

Wearable Haptic Feedback Interfaces for Augmenting Human Touch

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The wearable haptic feedback interfaces enhance user experience in gaming, social media, biomedical instrumentation, and robotics by generating tactile sensations. This review discusses and categorizes current haptic feedback interfaces into force, thermal, and electrotactile stimulation‐based haptic feedback interfaces, elucidating their current ...
