Polarized neutron channeling as a tool for the investigations of weakly magnetic thin films

open access: yes, 2015
We present and apply a new method to measure directly weak magnetization in thin films. The polarization of a neutron beam channeling through a thin film structure is measured after exiting the structure edge as a microbeam. We have applied the method to

Anomalous absorption of bulk shear sagittal acoustic waves in a layered structure with viscous fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
It is demonstrated theoretically that the absorptivity of bulk shear sagittal waves by an ultra-thin layer of viscous fluid between two different elastic media has a strong maximum (in some cases as good as 100%) at an optimal layer thickness.

Thin-layer chromatography of the phosphoinositides

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1968
Thin-layer chromatography for the separation of mono-, di-, and triphosphoinositides (0.3-3 micro g total phosphorus) is described.

Thin Shell Dynamics and Equations of State [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.D78:044003,2008, 2008
A relation between stress-energy and motion is derived for accelerated Israel layers. The relation, for layers between two Schwarzschild manifolds, generalizes the equation of state for geodesic collapse. A set of linked layers is discussed.

Convective Air Drying Characteristics for Thin Layer Carrots

open access: yes, 2013
Introduction : Carrot is one of the most commonly used vegetables for human nutrition due to high vitamin and fibre content. Drying is one of the oldest methods of food preservation, and it represents a very important aspect of food processing.

Growth of Epitaxial Oxide Thin Films on Graphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The transfer process of graphene onto the surface of oxide substrates is well known. However, for many devices, we require high quality oxide thin films on the surface of graphene. This step is not understood.

Characterization of Ag-Cu-S Thin Layers Formed on Low Density Polyethylene Film

open access: yesMedžiagotyra, 2011
The Ag-Cu-S layer formed on PE demonstrated a wide variation in thickness. The cross-section showed the average thickness of sulfide layers on PE increase from 1.9 mm to 5.6 mm with the increase in the sulfurization time and from 1.9 mm to

Influence of homo-buffer layer on stress control of sputtered (Ba0.45,Sr0.55)TiO3 thin films on Pt-Si [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
To engineer strain relaxation of sputtered BST thin films on Pt-Si wafers, homo-buffer layer method was applied to eliminate Pt hillock formation. Thin BST homo-buffer layers were deposited at room temperature and subsequently the main BST layer was deposited at 650{\deg}C, Pt hillock free BST films were obtained with homo-buffer thickness above 5 nm ...

Effects of resonances and surface texturing on light emission in emerging thin-film devices [PDF]

open access: yesProc. SPIE 12880, 128800N (2024)
Recent developments in thin-film fabrication and processing open up interesting possibilities for both established and emerging optics technologies. There, one of the key questions requiring more complete understanding is by how much one can improve the performance of thin-film devices by utilizing resonance effects and surface texturation.

Dimensional transition of energy cascades in stably stratified thin fluid layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Numerical simulations of a thin layer of turbulent flow in stably stratified conditions within the Boussinesq approximation have been performed. The statistics of energy transfer among scales have been investigated for different values of control parameters: thickness of the layer and density stratification.
