Effects of Surface Integrity on the Mechanics of Ultra-Thin Films [PDF]
A detailed formulation for the effects of the surface integrity, i.e. surface topography, surface metallurgy, and surface mechanical properties, on the mechanics of ultra-thin films is proposed in the framework of linear elasticity. In this formulation, the ultra-thin film is modeled as a material bulk covered with two altered layers and two rough ...

High voltage, high current Schottky barrier solar cell [PDF]
A Schottky barrier solar cell was described, which consists of a layer of wide band gap semiconductor material on which a very thin film of semitransparent metal was deposited to form a Schottky barrier.

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Desenvolvimento e aplicação de células eletroquímicas em camada delgada
Theoretical and practical aspects concerning construction and use of a thin layer electrochemical cell are presented. Construction was realized by a simple technic and geometry was optimized in order to minimize the problems of electrical resistance.

The Techniques of Thin Layer Chromatography and the Study of Carbohydrates Using Thin Layer Chromatography [PDF]
Refined Kraft pulp is found to contain D (+), Mannose, D (+) Xylose, and Glucose; and not to contain Galactose. Silia gel plates and Kieselguhr plates were used for the separation.

Three dimensional evolution of SN 1987A in a self-gravitating disk
The introduction of a exponential or power law gradient in the interstellar medium (ISM) allows to produce an asymmetric evolution of the supernova remnant (SNR) when the framework of the thin layer approximation is adopted.

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Quantitative seismic analysis of a thin layer of CO2 in the Sleipner injection plume
Time-lapse seismic reflection data have proved to be the key monitoring tool at the Sleipner CO2 injection project. Thin layers of CO2 in the Sleipner injection plume show striking reflectivity on the time-lapse data, but the derivation of accurate layer
