Thin layer axion dynamo

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We study interacting classical magnetic and pseudoscalar fields in frames of the axion electrodynamics. A large scale pseudoscalar field can be the coherent superposition of axions or axion like particles. We consider the evolution of these fields inside

Experimental and Theoretical Studies of the Optical Properties of the Schiff Bases and Their Materials Obtained from o-Phenylenediamine

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Two macrocyclic Schiff bases derived from o-phenylenediamine and 2-hydroxy-5-methylisophthalaldehyde L1 or 2-hydroxy-5-tert-butyl-1,3-benzenedicarboxaldehyde L2, respectively, were obtained and characterized by X-ray crystallography and spectroscopy (UV ...

Probing viscoelastic properties of a thin polymer film sheared between a beads layer and quartz crystal resonator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report measurements of viscoelastic properties of thin polymer films of 10-100 nm at the MHz range. These thin films are confined between a quartz crystal resonator and a millimetric bead layer, producing an increase of both resonance frequency and dissipation of the quartz resonator.

Grain Boundary Driven Plateau-Rayleigh Instability in Multilayer Nanocrystalline Thin Film: A Phase-field Study

open access: yes, 2016
Thermal stability of nanocrystalline multilayer thin film is of paramount importance as the applications often involve high temperature. Here we report on the layer instability phenomenon in binary polycrystalline thin film initiating from the grain ...

Aberrant expression of nuclear prothymosin α contributes to epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

Characteristics and Formation Conditions of Thin Phytoplankton Layers in the Northern Gulf of Mexico Revealed by Airborne Lidar

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The thin layers in the ocean are temporally-coherent aggregations of phytoplankton with high concentrations at small vertical scales, presenting important hotspots of ecological activity.

Impact of enhanced leaf model on dose calculation accuracy in single‐isocenter multitarget stereotactic radiosurgery treatments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Single‐isocenter multitarget (SIMT) radiosurgery has become increasingly popular as advancement in planning and delivery systems have made this approach clinically viable. With targets varying in size and distance from isocenter, SIMT plans are highly complex with dynamic multileaf collimator (MLC) motion.

Derivation of Stokes-Plate-Equations modeling fluid flow interaction with thin porous elastic layers [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
In this paper we investigate the interaction of fluid flow with a thin porous elastic layer. We consider two fluid-filled bulk domains which are separated by a thin periodically perforated layer consisting of a fluid and an elastic solid part. Thickness and periodicity of the layer are of order $\epsilon$, where $\epsilon$ is small compared to the size

Dosimetric effect of silicone‐based gel on skin surface during volumetric modulated arc therapy for breast cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aims to quantify and compare the dosimetric effects of varying thicknesses of StrataXRT, a silicone‐based gel, and other topical agents on the skin surface during volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for breast cancer.

Regulating strain in perovskite thin films through charge-transport layers

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Thermally-induced tensile strain that remains in perovskite films following annealing results in increased ion migration and is a known factor in the instability of these materials. Previously-reported strain regulation methods for perovskite solar cells
