Thin plate splines with tension
Computer Aided Geometric Design, 1985This paper investigates a scheme for representing surfaces by incorporating the concept of tension in a way which models a physical process. In particular, the deflection of a thin plate under the imposition of point loads in the lateral direction and midplane forces is considered.

THE BENDING OF THIN ANISOTROPIC PLATES
The Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics, 1952Unter Benutzung der auf \textit{A. C. Stevenson} [Philos. Mag., VII.

A widely known method in multivariate interpolation and approximation theory consists of the use of thin plate splines. In this paper, we investigate some results and properties relative to a wide variety of variational splines in some space of functions arising from a nonnegative weight function.

The distribution of displacement and stress fields throughout a generally loaded structure is very complicated and only computational methods can give effective solutions. The key to the finite element method is discretizing the structure into a collection of small regions that are easier to handle.

Abstract : Feasibility studies on miniaturizing the NOLC liquid activated ammonia cell continued. The requirements of a high-energy-density battery delimit packaging, and encompass both the energyweight density and the energy-volume density of power sources. The specifications demand high drain rates for 6 to 10 min.

The spheroidization of thin plates
Acta Metallurgica, 1989Abstract Under the influence of surface tension thin cylinders can disintegrate into rows of spheres. This process can be interpreted using Lord Rayleigh's perturbation theory. In this paper the spheroidization of plates is investigated. Considering thin finite and semifinite plates two models for the disintegration are proposed.

Classical text books on thin plate bending theory are due to Girkmann [2] and Timoshenko and Gere [9]. Szilard [10] and Reddy [11] are authors of more recent books on the subject. We will not copy their derivation of theory rather we follow a different approach.

In the preceding chapter, several cases of thin elastic plates loaded in the plane of the plate were analyzed using plane stress or plane strain equations. The resulting deformations are confined to the plane of the plate in accordance with the plane strain assumption.

A visualization technique is applied to the unsteady separated flow about an autorotatlng flat plate. An unsteady potential model is attempted to predict the pressure loading on the plate as a function of angle of attack. To visualize the flow, a streakline is marked by low density air created by the wake of a heated wire probe. An off-center parabolic
