On‐Demand Activation of Thin Alginate Shell Encapsulated Volatile Liquid for Untethered Pneumatic Soft Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐changing liquids enable untethered pneumatic actuation in soft robotics but suffer from volatility and storage challenges. This work reports a simple method to encapsulate Novec 7000 within micron‐thin alginate shells via in situ injection and ionic crosslinking.

The precision cutting control research of automotive stainless steel thin wall pipe

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
Stainless steel thin-walled tube are widely used in automobile industry at present, but as a result of thin wall pipe is poor strength and poor rigidity, which lead to deformation, shaped differencer and other problems in the process, it is hard to ensure

One-loop corrections to the metastable vacuum decay

open access: yes, 2003
We evaluate the one-loop prefactor in the false vacuum decay rate in a theory of a self interacting scalar field in 3+1 dimensions. We use a numerical method, established some time ago, which is based on a well-known theorem on functional determinants ...

Dilaton Black Holes on Thick Branes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We study a black hole domain wall system in dilatonic gravity being the low-energy limit of the string theory. Using the C-metric construction we derive the metric for an infinitisemally thin domain wall intersecting dilaton black hole.

3D‐Printed Serial Snap‐Through Architectures for Programmable Mechanical Response

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A serial snap‐through architecture is realized using compact 3D‐printed von Mises truss units arranged in a staged cascade. Their geometry and boundary conditions program multistage mechanical responses with plateaux and re‐hardening regimes. An inverted‐compliance model predicts these behaviors and enables analytical design of programmable force ...

Surface residual stress, micro-hardness and geometry of TC6 titanium alloy thin-wall parts processed by multiple oblique laser shock peening

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
The titanium alloy thin-walled part with light in weight and high specific strength is widely used in the aviation engine fan, turbine and compressor. The fatigue damage of the thin-walled part often happens under the action of the cyclic loads and high ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

RESEARCH ON VARIABLE GRADIENT THIN-WALLED ENERGY ABSORBING COMPONENT OF SCOUR-PROOF HYDRAULIC SUPPORT

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2021
For the impact of underground pressure, the roadway support equipment has poor anti-shock capability and is vulnerable to impact failure. A variable gradient thin-walled cylinder energy-absorbing and anti-shock component for anti-shock bracket is proposed.

Analytical and numerical properties of Q-balls [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Stable non-topological solitons, Q-balls, are studied using analytical and numerical methods. Three different physically interesting potentials that support Q-ball solutions are considered: two typical polynomial potentials and a logarithmic potential ...

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.
