Forest thinning increases soil carbon stocks in China
Forest Ecology and Management, 2021Thinning is a common forest management practice. However, its impact on soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks is still unknown. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis of 270 measurements from 77 articles to evaluate the effect of forest thinning on SOC ...

The effects of forest thinning on soil carbon stocks and dynamics: A meta-analysis
Forest Ecology and Management, 2018Forest thinning is widely used in forest management activities and has complex effects on underground carbon processes. Although many case studies have been done, how forest thinning affects soil carbon stocks and dynamics remains unclear, especially at ...

Shear-Thinning Nanocomposite Hydrogels for the Treatment of Hemorrhage
Internal hemorrhaging is a leading cause of death after traumatic injury on the battlefield. Although several surgical approaches such as the use of fibrin glue and tissue adhesive have been commercialized to achieve hemostasis, these approaches are ...

A set \(M\subset\mathbb N_0\) is called a basis of order \(k\) for \(A\subset\mathbb N_0\), if every \(a\in A\) can be written as a sum of \(k\) elements of \(M\) and \(k\) is minimal. In this clearly written article the author uses the probabilistic method of \textit{P. Erdős} and \textit{A. Rényi} [Acta Arith.

Thin Film Interference of Colloidal Thin Films
Langmuir, 2004A stairlike colloidal crystal thin film composed of poly(styrene-methyl methacrylate-acrylic acid) (P(St-MMA-AA)) monodispersed colloids was fabricated on an inclined silicon substrate. Different bright colors were observed on the various parts of the film with different layers as white light irradiated perpendicularly on it.

CHARACTERIZATIONS OF THIN AND SEMI-THIN SETS
Analysis, 1988This paper characterizes sets E in \({\mathbb{R}}^ m\) which are thin at the origin in terms of increasing functions \(\phi\) : (0,1]\(\to (0,+\infty)\) such that \(\phi\) (t)\(\to 0\) as \(t\to 0+\) and that the function \(t\mapsto t^{2-m} \phi (t)\) is decreasing on (0,1].

Radically thinned flaps raised on a subdermal plane, or defatted to the subdermal plane, are described for skin cover for the hand and neck and thumb post construction. No further thinning is required and optimal functional and aesthetic results can be achieved.
