Protein Thiol Modification and Thiol Proteomics

open access: yes, 2012
Cysteine plays an important role in the regulation of redox chemistry and gene expression and is essential in the structural and macromolecular organisation of proteins. Thiol oxidation leads to misfolding and the influencing of the protein function (Buczek et al., 2007).

Actuating and Sensing Composites of Liquid Crystal Elastomers and Poly(ionic liquid)s

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conductive, mechanically tough, flexible, and stretchable filaments of a composite material comprising a liquid crystal elastomer and a poly(ionic liquid) are produced through 3D printing, which exhibit large actuation strain under stimulation and electrical resistance variation in response to deformation or environmental condition changes. Their

Straightforward synthesis of functionalized cyclic polymers in high yield via RAFT and thiolactone-disulfide chemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An efficient synthetic pathway toward cyclic polymers based on the combination of thiolactone and disulfide chemistry has been developed. First, heterotelechelic linear polystyrene (PS) containing an alpha-thiolactone (TLa) and an omega-dithiobenzoate ...

4D‐Printable Poly(Thio)urethane Photoresins With Reactive Oxygen Species Responsiveness and Anti‐Inflammatory Functionality

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces UV‐curable poly(thio)urethane (PSU) thermosets as 4D printable scaffolds responsive to oxidative stress. PSU networks with 100 wt.% polypropylene glycol (PPG) effectively suppress inflammatory markers in microglial cells to basal values.
