Acid Sulfite Pulping of Hemp: Effects of Processing Conditions on Lyocell Pulp Quality

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 64, Issue 16, Page 3364-3381, 15 August 2026.
Industrial hemp is emerging as a promising renewable source for next‐generation textile fibers. This study evaluates whether acid sulfite pulping can produce hemp‐based dissolving pulp suitable for lyocell manufacturing. While the process is historically linked to increased cellulose accessibility, it did not achieve the low lignin content and ...

Green and Low‐Carbon Synthesis of Lithium Sulfide (Li2S): From Fundamental Mechanisms to Scalable Manufacturing for Next‐Generation Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 47, 24 August 2026.
This review focuses on green synthesis routes for lithium sulfide (Li2S)—a key material for lithium–sulfur batteries and sulfide solid electrolytes, whose traditional carbothermal reduction remains energy‐intensive and unsustainable. Specifically examined routes include low‐temperature solid‐state reactions, magnesiothermal reduction, and solution ...

Boosting the Photocatalytic Performance of Layered Double Hydroxides by In Situ Reactions with Metal Nanoclusters

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
An interfacial engineering strategy based on in situ reactions between metal nanoclusters and layered double hydroxides enables simultaneous nanocluster size regulation, heterojunction construction, and mesopore generation. The reconstructed interface enhances visible‐light harvesting, charge separation, and mass transport, providing a general strategy

Application of the Hydrogen‐Bond‐Mediated Aglycone Delivery (HAD) Reaction to the Synthesis of α‐ and β‐Linked 2‐Azido‐2‐deoxyglucosides

open access: yesChemistry – An Asian Journal, Volume 21, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
H‐bond‐mediated aglycone delivery method has been applied to the synthesis of glucosamine glycosides. ABSTRACT Controlling stereoselectivity of glycosylation reactions remains one of the central challenges in synthetic carbohydrate chemistry. In this study, we explore the impact of O‐picoloyl (Pico) protecting group positioning on the stereoselectivity

Engineering Biochar‐Derived Functional Materials for High‐Performance Supercapacitors: Design Principles, Mechanisms, and Scalable Strategies

open access: yesCarbon Energy, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Biochar has emerged as a useful and adaptable source of carbon for supercapacitor electrodes. Its value comes from the way biomass chemistry, thermal conversion, and activation conditions shape the resulting pore network, surface groups, and degree of carbon ordering.

Enhancing Intra‐Specific Population Genetic Studies of Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in Irish Waters by Integrating Least Invasive Sampling and Environmental DNA (eDNA)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Three populations of bottlenose dolphins are found in Irish waters. This study used direct sampling methods to expand the sample size and confirm the distinctiveness of these populations, including a range expansion outside of the Shannon Estuary SAC.

Influence of Cocoa Liquor Origin on Cocoa Butter Composition and Color, Texture, and Rheological Properties of Milk and Dark Chocolates: A Preliminary Study

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study compared cocoa liquors from Ecuador, Ghana, and Côte d'Ivoire and evaluated their effects on the color, textural, and rheological properties of milk and dark chocolates. The results showed that cocoa origin influenced cocoa liquor characteristics and contributed to differences in chocolate quality.
