Scale transition and enforcement of RVE boundary conditions in second-order computational homogenization [PDF]
Formulation of the scale transition equations coupling the microscopic and macroscopic variables in the second-order computational homogenization of heterogeneous materials and the enforcement of generalized boundary conditions for the representative ...

Fibrous benzenetrispeptide (BTP) hydrogels, fabricated via strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) crosslinking, form robust, bioinert networks. These hydrogels can support 3D cell culture, where cell viability and colony growth depend on the fiber content.

Proteins, Processing, and Properties of Adhesive Fluid Condensates Purified from Mussels
Mussels exhibit an unmatched proficiency for adhering to wet surfaces in salty environments—a remarkable ability that could inspire new biomedical and technical glues. The fluid protein condensates used to form the underwater mussel glue are extracted, reconstituted and characterized with advanced spectroscopy and nanomechanical analysis, revealing ...

Free vibrations of magnetoelectric bimorph beam devices by third order shear deformation theory
The axial and flexural natural frequencies of magneto-electro-elastic bimorph beam devices are analyzed in the framework of the third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT). Although the assumption of parabolic transverse shear strain distribution along the thickness leads to higher order stress resultants the use of the TSDT allows to avoid the need ...

Ultrathin AlOxHy interlayers between aluminum films and polymer substrates significantly improve electro‐mechanical properties of flexible thin film systems. By precisely controlling interlayer thickness using atomic layer deposition, this study identifies an optimal interlayer thickness of 5–10 nm that enhances ductility and delays cracking.

Elasticity near the vulcanization transition
Signatures of the vulcanization transition--amorphous solidification induced by the random crosslinking of macromolecules--include the random localization of a fraction of the particles and the emergence of a nonzero static shear modulus.

Free vibration of a three-layered sandwich beam using the dynamic stiffness method and experiment [PDF]
In this paper, an accurate dynamic stiffness model for a three-layered sandwich beam of unequal thicknesses is developed and subsequently used to investigate its free vibration characteristics.

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...
