Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Changes in mandibular third molar angle and position after unilateral mandibular first molar extraction

open access: yes, 2006
Introduction: Third molars often become impacted because of lack of space for their eruption. Because the third molars play an important role occlusally, premolars or second molars are sometimes extracted to create space.

Clinical application of molar uprighting for impacted mandibular second molars

open access: yes口腔疾病防治, 2020
Objective To investigate the effect of the clinical application of molar uprighting in the treatment of impacted mandibular second molars. Methods A total of 16 cases of impacted mandibular second molars were chosen, and the impacted molars were treated ...

Influence of Surface Finish on the Tribological Performance of AlTiBN Coatings Deposited on Forming Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

Local anesthesia for mandibular third molar extraction [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, 2018
Mandibular third molar extraction is commonly performed in dental clinics. However, the optimal method of anesthesia has not been established for this procedure. The conventional inferior alveolar nerve block is the most widely used method. However, its success rate is not high and it may lead to complications, such as aspiration and nerve injury ...

Evaluation of the surgical difficulty in lower third molar extraction

open access: yes, 2010
The ability to predict the surgical difficulty of lower third molar extraction facilitates the design of treatment plans by minimizing complications and improving the preparation of patients and assistants in terms of the postoperative management of ...

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

How will mandibular third molar surgery affect mandibular second molar periodontal parameters?

open access: yesDental Research Journal, 2013
Background: Several conflicting findings have been published in the previous literature regarding the effects of impacted third molar surgery on the periodontal parameters of the adjacent second molar; some authors have shown improvement of periodontal ...

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Nerve Paralysis after Third Molar Extraction.

open access: yesTHE JOURNAL OF THE STOMATOLOGICAL SOCIETY,JAPAN, 1998
This paper described the incidence of inferior alveolar nerve paralysis following surgical removal of impacted third molars. The investigated cases were 789 patients with 1,299 teeth that were surgically extracted. Eight (0.6%) patients had the inferior alveolar nerve paralysis and one (0.08%) had lingual nerve paralysis.
