Abstract A Reissner mixed variational theorem (RMVT)-based third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT) is developed for the static analysis of simply-supported, multilayered functionally graded material (FGM) plates under mechanical loads. The material properties of the FGM layers are assumed to obey either the exponent-law distributions through the ...

Thermal buckling analysis of rectangular functionally graded plates with initial geometric imperfections is presented in this paper. It is assumed that the non-homogeneous mechanical properties vary linearly through the thickness of the plate. The plate is assumed to be under various types of thermal loadings, such as the uniform temperature rise and ...

The present investigation focuses on the research of the nonlinear vibration of a cantilevered FGMs rectangular plate subjected to the transversal excitation. Materials properties of the constituents are graded in the thickness direction according to a power law distribution and are assumed to be temperature‐dependent and vary along the thickness ...

Free Vibration of Thick Quadrilateral Laminates Using Third-Order Shear-Normal Deformation Theory
AIAA Journal, 2020Free vibrations of thick and skew quadrilateral laminates have been analyzed by using the Ritz method and a third-order shear and normal deformable plate theory (TSNDT) that does require a shear-co...

A new mixed finite element formulation is proposed to analyze transient coupled thermoelastic problems. Coupled model of dynamic thermoelasticity is selected for a laminated composite and a homogeneous isotropic plate. For the particular finite element developed here, there are 15 degrees of freedom at each node.

Buckling Analysis of Functionally Graded Material Plate Using Third-Order Shear Deformation Theory
INROADS- An International Journal of Jaipur National University, 2018This paper investigates the thermo-mechanical buckling behaviour of simply supported functionally graded material (FGM) plate under the framework of higher order shear deformation theory, which includes classical plate theory (CPT), first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT) as special cases.

In this paper, a general third-order beam theory that accounts for nanostructure-dependent size effects and two-constituent material variation through the nanobeam thickness, i.e., functionally graded material (FGM) beam is presented. The material properties of FG nanobeams are assumed to vary through the thickness according to the power law.

Thermal Stress Analysis of Laminated Composite Plates Using Third Order Shear Deformation Theory
2014The strength properties of FRP collectively make up one of the primary reasons for which civil engineers select for the construction of structures. The higher order shear deformation theory accounts not only for transverse shear strains of laminated composites but also for a parabolic distribution of the distribution of the transverse strains through ...
