An uncommon “third window” in retrofenestral otosclerosis
Otosclerosis is an otologic disease characterized by disordered resorption and deposition of the otic capsule bone. It can lead to progressive conductive, mixed or sensorineural Hearing Loss (HL). In rare cases, it manifests itself with a tendency for massive bone resorption with subsequent formation of cavities (“cavitating otosclerosis”).

Perfecting and extending the near-infrared imaging window
Moderate light absorption by bio-tissue is conducive to the imaging performance. The second near-infrared window is perfected as 900–1880 nm, and 2080–2340 nm is proposed as the third near-infrared window.

Investigating the Design and Simulation of a Tunable Optical Filter Based on Photonic Crystal Using Selective Optofluidic Infiltration [PDF]
In this paper an optical filter based on 2D hexagonal photonic crystals that is suitable for the third window of optical communications is proposed. The structure consists of two waveguides including one L4 resonant cavity created by removing 4 holes ...

The Importance of the Classroom's Window View [PDF]
Many studies point out the importance of the window views to the surroundings, as they have a significant impact on children's well-being, living comfort and learning performance. Nevertheless, this aspect is overlooked and usually not included as one of

Buccal window approach: A favorable technique for preserving periodontium in impacted third molar surgery [PDF]
Background. The present study assessed the probing depth of the second molar distal aspect after the surgical removal of adjacent mandibular impacted third molars using osteotomy by a buccal window and routine crestal flaps. Methods. In this double-blind,

Micro-structuration effects on local magneto-transport in [Co/Pd]IrMn thin films
We measured the local magneto-transport (MT) signal with an out-of-plane magnetic field, including magneto-resistance (MR) and Extraordinary Hall effect (EHE), in exchange-biased [Co/Pd]IrMn thin multilayers that are micro-structured with a 100 μm window.
