Random subgroups of Thompson's group $F$ [PDF]
We consider random subgroups of Thompson's group $F$ with respect to two natural stratifications of the set of all $k$ generator subgroups. We find that the isomorphism classes of subgroups which occur with positive density are not the same for the two ...

Limits of Thompson's group F [PDF]
Let F be the Thompson's group. We study the structure of F-limit groups. Consider a sequence of groups marked by three elements, each isomorphic to F. Assume that the this sequence is convergent in the space of marked groups.

Thompson's group F is not SCY [PDF]
In this note we prove that Thompson's group F cannot be the fundamental group of a symplectic 4-manifold with trivial canonical class by showing that its Hausmann-Weinberger invariant q(F) is strictly positive.Comment: 4 pages.

Embeddings into Thompson's group V and coCF groups [PDF]
It is shown in Lehnert and Schweitzer ('The co-word problem for the Higman-Thompson group is context-free', Bull. London Math. Soc. 39 (2007) 235-241) that R. Thompson's group $V$ is a co-context-free ($co\mathcal {CF}$) group, thus implying that all of its finitely generated subgroups are also $co\mathcal {CF}$ groups.

Computational explorations in Thompson's group F [PDF]
We describe the results of some computational explorations in Thompson's group F. We describe experiments to estimate the cogrowth of F with respect to its standard finite generating set, designed to address the subtle and difficult question whether or ...

Pure braid subgroups of braided Thompson's groups [PDF]
We describe pure braided versions of Thompson's group F. These groups, $BF$ and $\hat{BF}$, are subgroups of the braided versions of Thompson's group V, introduced by Brin and Dehornoy.

Combinatorial properties of Thompson's group F [PDF]
We study some combinatorial consequences of Blake Fordham’s theorems on the word metric of Thompson’s group F F in the standard two generator presentation. We explore connections between the tree pair diagram representing an element w w of F F , its normal form in the infinite presentation, its word ...

Associativity and Thompson's Group [PDF]
Given a set S equipped with a binary operation (we call this a "bracket algebra") one may ask to what extent the binary operation satisfies some of the consequences of the associative law even when it is not actually associative? We define a subgroup Assoc(S) of Thompson's Group F for each bracket algebra S, and we interpret the size of Assoc(S) as ...

An irrational-slope Thompson’s group [PDF]
The purpose of this paper is to study the properties of the irrational-slope Thompson's group $F_ $ introduced by Cleary in 1995. We construct presentations, both finite and infinite and we describe its combinatorial structure using binary trees. We show that its commutator group is simple.
