On the Usage of Tapered Undulators in the Measurement of Interference in the Intensity-Dependent Electron Mass Shift

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
In nonlinear Thomson scattering, the main emission line and its harmonics form a band-like structure due to the laser pulse shape induced ponderomotive broadening. We propose to use tapered undulators to mimic Thomson scattering and measure the intensity-

Picosecond X-Ray Generation Through Thomson Scattering [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة التربية والعلم, 2010
Short pulse x-ray generation which is produced through Thomson scattering is of interest not only to the basic collision physics, but also used in various research fields.

Thomson scattering on inhomogeneous targets [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2010
The introduction of brilliant free-electron lasers enables new pump-probe experiments to characterize warm dense matter states. For instance, a short-pulse optical laser irradiates a liquid hydrogen jet that is subsequently probed with brilliant soft x-ray radiation.

Emittance in nonlinear Thomson scattering

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams, 2022
Inverse Compton scattering sources are finding increasing use as intense sources of high-energy photons. When operated at high field strength, ponderomotive detuning of the scattered emission can lead to decreased source performance.

The optical collection system designed for EAST edge TV Thomson scattering diagnostic

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
An optical collection system composed of a collection lens, fibers, and a mounting rack with high luminous flux, high transmission efficiency, and low optical losses has been designed and installed to collect sufficient scattered lights for the edge TV ...

A Multiphysics Ray Optics Model for the Propagation of Electromagnetic Waves in Plasmas and the Design of Laser-Based Diagnostics in Nuclear Fusion Reactors

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Laser-based methods are widely used techniques for thermonuclear plasma diagnostics, since they can probe the internal of the plasma, being contactless and non-invasive.

Thomson and collisional regimes of in-phase coherent microwave scattering off gaseous microplasmas

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The total number of electrons in a classical microplasma can be non-intrusively measured through elastic in-phase coherent microwave scattering (CMS). Here, we establish a theoretical basis for the CMS diagnostic technique with an emphasis on Thomson and

Description of bandgaps opening in chiral phononic crystals by analogy with Thomson scattering

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
Chiral phononic crystals (PnCs) provide unique properties not offered by conventional metamaterial based on classic Bragg scattering and local resonance.

Thomson scattering on the large plasma device

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2022
We have developed a non-collective Thomson scattering diagnostic for measurements of electron density and temperature on the Large Plasma Device. A triple grating spectrometer with a tunable notch filter is used to discriminate the faint scattering signal from the stray light.

Electron-Beam Conditioning by Thomson Scattering [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2004
A method is proposed for conditioning electron beams via Thomson scattering. The conditioning provides a quadratic correlation between the electron energy deviation and the betatron amplitude of the electrons, which results in enhanced gain in free-electron lasers.
