A rare case of thoracic renal artery

Anatomical Science International, 2021
Identifying of variations of renal vascular anatomy is important for radical surgery, endovascular intervention, and renal transplantation. While there are common normal variations of renal vascular anatomy, such as accessory renal arteries, a main renal artery that originates from the thoracic aorta (thoracic renal artery) is remarkably rare.

Internal thoracic artery for coronary artery grafting in octogenarians

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1996
Use of the left internal thoracic artery as a bypass graft has been shown to result in better long-term patency and improved survival. In elderly patients, the internal thoracic artery has been used less often for coronary artery bypass grafts because of the belief that greater morbidity and mortality are associated with this procedure.

Antioxidant Properties of the Internal Thoracic Artery and the Radial Artery

Heart, Lung and Circulation, 2008
The antioxidant properties of blood vessels contribute to their performance and patency of that vessel when used as a bypass conduit. Despite increased use of the radial artery (RA) in recent years, very little is known about its antioxidant properties.

Prevention of internal thoracic artery spasm

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1997
Perioperative spasm of the internal thoracic artery is a common experience in coronary artery bypass grafting. We describe a simple method of harvesting the internal thoracic artery with improved ease of dissection that helps to prevent the arterial spasm.

Arteriosclerosis of the gastroepiploic and internal thoracic arteries

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1990
Arteriosclerosis of the right gastroepiploic artery (GEA) and the internal thoracic artery (ITA) were compared by pathological observation. Specimens were obtained from 35 patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting with simultaneous use of these two kinds of arterial grafts.

Robotic Internal Thoracic Artery Harvesting

Surgery Today, 2007
Great progress has been made in robotic surgery, and several reports on robot-assisted coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) have been published. Our team at Kanazawa University began using the da Vinci Surgical System (Intuitive Surgical, Sunnyvale, CA, USA) in 2005.

Internal Thoracic Artery: To Skeletonize or Not to Skeletonize?

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2005
The internal thoracic artery has been the most reliable graft material used in coronary artery bypass grafting with an excellent long-term patency rate. Complete myocardial revascularization with internal thoracic arteries improves long-term survival and decreases the rate of repeat operations compared with vein grafts.

Adrenoceptors of the human internal thoracic artery

Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1991
Adrenoceptor function in the human internal thoracic artery (ITA) was characterized in vitro using segments of the artery obtained during coronary bypass operations. Specimens were prepared as isolated arterial rings mounted in a tissue bath, and mechanical activity (isometric tension) was measured in response to drugs.

Thoracic bifurcation of the common carotid artery

Neuroradiology, 1973
This study was based on angiographic records. We found that the bifurcation of the common carotid artery can be located amazingly low on the neck or even within the upper mediastinum. We have described five such instances; two bifurcations at the T3 level and three at T1-2 level.
