Endovascular Repair of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms
Recent Patents on Cardiovascular Drug Discovery, 2009A thoracic aortic aneurysm is a potentially life-threatening condition that involves a structural weakness of the aortic wall, which can lead to aneurysm, rupture, or dissection. Optimal treatment strategies for lesions of the thoracic aorta are still controversial.

Thoracic endovascular aortic repair for an ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm
Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2020An 80-year-old woman underwent aortic valve replacement and ascending aortic replacement. Two years later, computed tomography revealed a pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta replaced with a prosthesis. The pseudoaneurysm arose from the stump of a side branch of the prosthesis.

Endovascular Repair of Descending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms
Advances in Surgery, 2022Descending thoracic aortic aneurysms (DTAAs) are an important cause of morbidity and mortality in the elderly. Once diagnosed, they should be surveilled and then repaired at a diameter of 5.5 to 6 cm, depending on the individual patient's physiologic and anatomic risk of repair.

Endovascular repair of traumatic thoracic aortic tears
The American Journal of Surgery, 2012Patients with thoracic aorta injuries (TAI) present a unique challenge. The purpose of this study was to review the outcomes of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) in patients with TAI.A retrospective chart review of all patients admitted for TEVAR for trauma was performed. In a 5-year period, 19 patients (6 women and 13 men; average age, 42 y ...

Endovascular repair in management of thoracic aortic aneurysms
The International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging, 2006Aneurysms of the thoracic aorta are still potentially life-threatening situations. The conventional operation is still associated with morbidity. Endovascular stent graft repair offers an alternative to conventional operation for management of aortic diseases.

Transapical Endovascular Repair of Thoracic Aortic Pathology
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2017Alternative access for thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has been explored for patients with unsuitable femoral and iliac access, but few cases of transapical access have been described. We report our experience with transapical access for various aortic pathologies. We reviewed 6 cases undergoing transapical access for endovascular repair of ...

Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair in the Ascending Aorta
Innovations: Technology and Techniques in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, 2015Thoracic endovascular aortic repair has become an attractive alternative treatment option for thoracic aortic disease. New devices and advanced image-guided procedures are continuously expanding the indications. This article focuses on technical aspects of transapical stent graft deployment for ascending aortic pathologies.

Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair in Octogenarians and Nonagenarians
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2020The oldest segments of the population are expanding rapidly, and the number of thoracic endovascular aortic repairs (TEVARs) performed in the elderly parallels this trend. We describe our institutional TEVAR experience in octogenarians and nonagenarians. All patients 80 years and older undergoing TEVAR at a single institution were reviewed using a ...

Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair for Penetrating Aortic Trauma
Annals of Vascular SurgeryThoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) reduced mortality for blunt aortic injury (BAI) from 30-50% to 40% mortality). This study's goal is to determine outcomes of TEVAR for PAI.Patients undergoing TEVAR for traumatic aortic injuries were identified from the Vascular Quality Initiative database from 2011 to 2022.

Neurological Complications of Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair
Seminars in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, 2011Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has decreased the morbidity and mortality associated with open surgical repair of descending thoracic aortic diseases, but important complications unique to the procedure remain. Spinal cord ischemia and infarction is a recognized complication caused by endovascular coverage or injury to spinal cord ...
