Endovascular Repair of Thoracic Aortic Tears
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2006Standard treatment of traumatic thoracic aortic transection (TTAT) is open repair by left thoracotomy with or without the use of partial cardiopulmonary bypass. However, open repair is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality, particularly in multiply injured trauma patients. We reviewed our experiences of endovascular repair of acute TTAT.

Aortic disease: thoracic endovascular aortic repair
Heart, 2015Following the first reported case of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) in 1987, there has been rapid technological development and widespread uptake of this approach for thoracic aortic disease. TEVAR has particular advantages for acute thoracic syndromes and there is continuing development of TEVAR for use in the elective situation.

Thoracic endovascular aortic repair for an ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm
Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2020An 80-year-old woman underwent aortic valve replacement and ascending aortic replacement. Two years later, computed tomography revealed a pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta replaced with a prosthesis. The pseudoaneurysm arose from the stump of a side branch of the prosthesis.

Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2016
Mycotic aneurysms although rare can be devastating. We encountered a dialysis patient with rapidly expanding distal aortic arch aneurysm who underwent axilloaxillary bypass and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). Three months later, he suffered mycotic aneurysm rupture for which redo TEVAR was performed.

Thoracic endovascular aortic repair of an ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm
Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2023A 74-year-old man with a history of two thoracic aortic repairs, including a modified Bentall procedure using a mechanical valve and total arch replacement, was referred to our hospital with the development of hoarseness. Computed tomography revealed an anastomotic pseudoaneurysm between the prosthetic grafts in the ascending aorta.

Timing of repair of blunt thoracic aortic injuries in the thoracic endovascular aortic repair era
Journal of Vascular Surgery, 2021Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is the preferred operative treatment of blunt thoracic aortic injuries (BTAIs). Its use is associated with improved outcomes compared with open surgical repair and nonoperative management. However, the optimal time from injury to repair is unknown and remains a subject of debate across different societal ...

Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair in Octogenarians and Nonagenarians
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2020The oldest segments of the population are expanding rapidly, and the number of thoracic endovascular aortic repairs (TEVARs) performed in the elderly parallels this trend. We describe our institutional TEVAR experience in octogenarians and nonagenarians. All patients 80 years and older undergoing TEVAR at a single institution were reviewed using a ...

Transapical Endovascular Repair of Thoracic Aortic Pathology
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2017Alternative access for thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has been explored for patients with unsuitable femoral and iliac access, but few cases of transapical access have been described. We report our experience with transapical access for various aortic pathologies. We reviewed 6 cases undergoing transapical access for endovascular repair of ...

Endovascular repair in management of thoracic aortic aneurysms
The International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging, 2006Aneurysms of the thoracic aorta are still potentially life-threatening situations. The conventional operation is still associated with morbidity. Endovascular stent graft repair offers an alternative to conventional operation for management of aortic diseases.

Endovascular repair of traumatic thoracic aortic tears
The American Journal of Surgery, 2012Patients with thoracic aorta injuries (TAI) present a unique challenge. The purpose of this study was to review the outcomes of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) in patients with TAI.A retrospective chart review of all patients admitted for TEVAR for trauma was performed. In a 5-year period, 19 patients (6 women and 13 men; average age, 42 y ...
