Giant Aortic Aneurysm in Refractory Behçet’s Disease Shrank with Tocilizumab Treatment: A Case Report

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2025.
Behçet disease (BD) is characterized by recurrent oral and genital ulcers, skin lesions, and vascular involvement. Giant aortic aneurysm, a life‐threatening complication of BD, often proves refractory to conventional therapies. Here, we present the case of a 71‐year‐old man with a 40‐year history of BD complicated by a giant aortic aneurysm, which was ...

Open repair of chronic thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic dissection using deep hypothermia and circulatory arrest [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Chronic dissection of the thoracic and thoracoabdominal aorta as sequela of a prior type A or B dissection is a challenging problem that requires close radiographic surveillance and prompt operative intervention in the presence of symptoms ...

Outcomes of endovascular repair for blunt thoracic aortic injury [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery, 2013
Consistent long-term follow-up data of thoracic endovascular repair (TEVAR) for acute blunt thoracic aortic injury (BTAI) are largely absent at this time. The late outcomes of TEVAR for BTAI are the focus of this study to evaluate the durability of this type of repair. The records of 46 consecutive cases of TEVAR for BTAI from November 2000 to August ...

CCDC80 Protects against Aortic Dissection and Rupture by Maintaining the Contractile Smooth Muscle Cell Phenotype

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 26, July 10, 2025.
Aortic dissection (AD) is accompanied by a decrease in CCDC80 in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). CCDC80 can interact with JAK2, and VSMC‐specific CCDC80 deficiency accelerates the progression of AD by activating the JAK2/STAT3 pathway involved in regulating the phenotype switching and function of VSMCs.

Tratamento Endovascular de Aneurismas da Aorta e Transfusão de Sangue. O que Precisamos? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
INTRODUCTION: Comparatively to open repair, endovascular aneurysm repair has reduced transfusion rates but thereâs no recommendation about number of red blood cells units to be crossmatched preoperatively.

Impact of Elevated Preprocedural Left Ventricular Filling Pressure on Prognosis of Mild Paravalvular Regurgitation Following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 106, Issue 1, Page 242-249, July 1, 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Paravalvular regurgitation (PVR) following transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a complication linked to poor outcomes. The prognostic impact of mild PVR, particularly in patients with elevated preprocedural left ventricular (LV) filling pressure, remains uncertain.

Endovascular repair of a leaking aortic-arch pseudoaneurysm using graft stent combined with chimney protection to left common carotid artery: Case report and review of literature

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Heart Association, 2018
Aortic pseudoaneurysm (PsA) is a rare but serious condition that has high mortality and morbidity rates if untreated. We report a rare case of leaking aortic-arch PsA repaired by thoracic endovascular aortic repair using graft stent with the chimney ...

Intercostal artery embolization to induce false lumen thrombosis in type B aortic dissection

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2020
Persistent false lumen flow is common after thoracic endovascular aortic repair of type B aortic dissection and may contribute to continued aortic aneurysmal degeneration.
