ABSTRACT Background Lung transplant recipients are at increased risk of sarcopenia and osteoporosis, which may negatively influence respiratory outcomes. High vagal etiology of unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP) is linked to greater swallowing dysfunction compared to low vagal etiology of UVFP, with higher rates of premature spillage, pharyngeal residue, penetration and aspiration on instrumental swallow assessment; and higher prevalence of diet and behavioral modifications recommended.

In this review, we summarize nerve–cancer interactions and conclude two additional interactions, “perineural invasion” and “neuro‐microbic‐oncology.” Emphasizing the important role of nerves in tumor progression. The nervous system also contributes to the development of cancer comorbidities such as cancer depression and cognitive dysfunction.
