Palliative thoracic radiotherapy for lung cancer
Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy, 2010Despite an increasing use of chemotherapy in the palliative setting for lung cancer, the role of palliative thoracic radiotherapy should not be disregarded. It offers quick and efficient palliation, with improvement observed in approximately two-thirds of treated patients.

Unrecognized thoracic radiotherapy toxicity: A review of literature
Cancer/Radiothérapie, 2022Radiotherapy remains an important treatment modality for patients with chest malignancies; this is particularly true in patients with breast cancer and Hodgkin lymphoma as well as lung, esophageal, and other mediastinal tumors. More than half of patients with these conditions receive radiotherapy at some point.

Future directions in palliative thoracic radiotherapy
Current Opinion in Supportive & Palliative Care, 2012Recent systematic review, practice guidelines, and consensus statements have summarized the known clinical trial information with regards to the appropriate use of external-beam radiation, brachytherapy, and concurrent chemotherapy (with external-beam radiotherapy) in the palliation of chest symptoms with thoracic radiotherapy.

Radiotherapy for thoracic tumours
2019Chapter 6 discusses radiotherapy for thoracic tumours and includes discussion on lung cancer. The chapter covers assessment of patients with lung cancer for radical radiotherapy, patient positioning for radical radiotherapy for lung cancer, tumour motion, target delineation, organs at risk, implementation on the treatment machine, treatment ...

Radiotherapy for thoracic tumours
2013Chapter 5 discusses two main subtypes of lung cancer; small cell (SCLC) and non-small cell (NSCLC). However, the management is becoming increasingly similar so the general principles of lung cancer radiotherapy will be discussed first, followed by the specific features of management of the two pathological entities.

Pediatric radiotherapy for thoracic and abdominal targets
Radiotherapy and oncology, 2022For radiotherapy of thoracic and abdominal tumors safety margins are applied to address geometrical uncertainties caused by e.g. set-up errors, organ motion and delineation variability. For pediatric patients no standardized margins are defined. Moreover, studies on these geometrical uncertainties are relatively scarce.

Thoracic radiotherapy for renal cell carcinoma metastases.
Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2020409 Background: For patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC), metastasis-directed local therapies can delay progression and need to initiate/switch systemic therapy. We examined our experience treating lung or mediastinal metastases from RCC with radiotherapy (RT).

Fractionation and dose in thoracic radiotherapy
Lung Cancer, 1994The results of radiotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer confined to the mediastinum are disappointing. Conventional radiotherapy giving 60 Gy in 6 weeks gives primary tumour control of up to 23% with a 1 and 2-year survival of the order of 35% and 12%, respectively.
