The impact of antibiotic selection and interval time among advanced non‐small cell lung cancer patients receiving prior antibacterial treatment and first‐line chemotherapy

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 11, Issue 24, Page 4849-4864, December 2022., 2022
In clinical settings, many NSCLC patients undergo antibiotic treatment prior to the initiation of chemotherapy. Previous studies have reported that antibiotic use can affect the efficacy of immunotherapeutic treatment regimens. Whether antibiotics similarly impact chemotherapy efficacy, however, remains to be established.

Examining Noncardiac Surgical Procedures in Patients on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

open access: yesASAIO journal (1992), 2015
As extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is increasingly used for patients with cardiac and/or pulmonary failure, the need for noncardiac surgical procedures (NCSPs) in these patients will continue to increase.

IL‐33‐Induced TREM2+ Macrophages Promote Pathological New Bone Formation Through CREG1‐IGF2R Axis in Ankylosing Spondylitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies TREM2+ macrophages as key contributors to pathological bone formation in ankylosing spondylitis (AS). These macrophages mediate pathological new bone formation via the CREG1‐IGF2R‐PI3K‐AKT pathway and are regulated by IL‐33 through STAT6 phosphorylation.

One‐year COVID‐19 outcomes on the oncology care patient pathway: Results of a French descriptive, cross‐sectional comprehensive study (ONCOCARE‐COV)

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 11, Issue 24, Page 4865-4879, December 2022., 2022
Key steps in the oncology care pathway activity were retrospectively analyzed and compared in this comprehensive and cross‐sectional study, between the different time settings in the COVID‐19 pandemic. Oncology care were heavily disrupted during the first and second COVID‐19 outbreak waves with decrease in screening and diagnosis activity as well as an

Calpain‐2‐Mediated Endothelial Focal Adhesion Disruption in Thoracic Aortic Dissection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The elevated expression of Capn2 in endothelial cells activates focal adhesion signaling by cleaving Talin1 and assembling Itgav, which compromises the integrity of the endothelial barrier and induces vascular inflammation. Inhibition of calpain through both pharmacological and transgenic approaches has effectively suppressed the onset and progression ...

Cognitive function in late‐stage HFpEF patients with tricuspid regurgitation undergoing transcatheter tricuspid valve intervention

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 100, Issue 7, Page 1323-1330, December 1, 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives This study evaluates the impact of transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions (TTVI) on cognitive function (CF), quality of life (QOL), and exercise capacity in late‐stage heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and relevant tricuspid regurgitation (TR).

Real-time Surgical Tools Recognition in Total Knee Arthroplasty Using Deep Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a commonly performed surgical procedure to mitigate knee pain and improve functions for people with knee arthritis. The procedure is complicated due to the different surgical tools used in the stages of surgery. The recognition of surgical tools in real-time can be a solution to simplify surgical procedures for the ...
