Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery: Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Annual, 1998The general principles and current applications of pediatric video-assisted cardiothoracic surgery (PVACTS) are reviewed. The purpose of PVACTS is to improve surgical quality and precision in selected operations. In the 1990s PVACTS has expanded to include the management of a variety of pulmonary, mediastinal, and cardiac lesions.

Indication and Results of Thoracic Surgical Procedures in Premature Infants
1991This analysis concerns three groups of malformations: Congenital diaphragmatic hernia, patent ductus arteriosus, and oesophageal atresia. We registered a total mortality rate for all congenital diaphragmatic hernias and defects of 28.5%; the rate in full-term neonates was 27.6% and in premature infants 33.6%.

Thoracic complications of dental surgical procedures: Hazards of the dental drill
The American Journal of Medicine, 1993Dental surgical procedures occasionally result in intrathoracic complications that may subsequently be encountered by clinicians. We report four patients with such complications, including pneumomediastinum, fatal descending necrotizing mediastinitis, and Lemierre's syndrome.
