Chondromyxoid fibroma of two thoracic vertebrae

Skeletal Radiology, 1999
We report on a case of chondromyxoid fibroma involving two adjacent thoracic vertebrae with features of aggressive behaviour on radiographs, CT and MRI. Histology revealed typical chondromyxoid fibroma with unusually coarse calcifications. Chondromyxoid fibroma of the spine is rare, and only 30 of these tumours have been reported so far. Involvement of

An anterior surgical approach to the upper thoracic vertebrae [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Neurosurgery, 1984
✓ Of the various anterior surgical approaches to the spine, exposure of the upper two thoracic vertebrae remains the most challenging. An operative approach to this region is described. The major features include resection of a portion of the clavicle and the manubrium sterni.

Fusion of anterior thoracic vertebrae in Pleistocene ground sloths

Historical Biology, 2018
A previous study reported the fusion of spinous processes of thoracic vertebrae one and two in the ground sloth Glossotherium, proposing an injury or a congenital deformation as possible causes.

A transsternal approach to the upper thoracic vertebrae

The American Journal of Surgery, 1984
An anterior surgical approach to the upper thoracic vertebrae has been described. A T-shaped skin incision is used, with the horizontal limb 1 cm above the clavicle, and the vertical limb extending in the midline over the body of the sternum. A portion of the manubrium sterni, as well as the medial third of the clavicle, is resected; the avacular ...

Thoracic vertebrae fracture: Is it an indicator of abdominal injury?

The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2021
Traumatic vertebral fracture accounts for 10-15% of trauma related admissions. While the correlation between lumbar vertebral fractures and abdominal injuries is well established, the relationship between thoracic vertebral fractures (TVF) and abdominal injuries is comparatively less well elucidated.

Six-level isolated spinous process fracture of the thoracic vertebrae (clay-shoveler's fracture) and a review of the literature.

Neurology India, 2015
Clay-shoveler's fractures are isolated, avulsion-type spinous process fractures of the lower cervical and upper thoracic vertebrae. Multi-level fractures of the spinous processes are extremely rare. We report the case of a 60-year-old female patient with

Benign osteoblastoma of a thoracic vertebra

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1980
✓ A patient with osteoblastoma of the T-11 vertebral body presented with symptoms of spinal cord compression. Six weeks after an emergency laminectomy and subtotal removal, spinal computerized tomography disclosed residual tumor, which was totally removed via a combined anterior transthoracic approach and posterior laminectomy.

Three-dimensional analysis of sexual dimorphism in human thoracic vertebrae: implications for the respiratory system and spine morphology.

American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 2014
Sexual dimorphism is important for intraspecific variation and well studied in the human skeleton. In the thoracic part of the spine sexual dimorphism is expected for differences in the respiratory system related to body mass, lung capacity, and ...

[Computed tomograph findings of tissue adjacent to thoracic vertebrae involved by IgG4-related disease].

Zhonghua yi xue za zhi, 2014
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the computed tomograph (CT) findings of IgG4-related disease (RD) involving soft tissue adjacent to thoracic vertebrae. METHODS The chest and abdomen CT findings of 22 cases of IgG4-RD proved by orbital pathology and/or laboratory

Anatomical variation of the spinous and transverse processes in the caudal cervical vertebrae and the first thoracic vertebra in horses.

Equine Veterinary Journal, 2016
REASONS FOR PERFORMING STUDY There are scant data on the incidence of different anatomical variants of the equine caudal cervical spine, despite interest in cervical pathology.
