Primary tumor of thoracic vertebra: chondrosarcoma
The Spine Journal, 2016A 46-year-old man who had a prior history of lung mass operation presented with back pain. On suspicion of recurrence physician performed thorax and mediastinal magnetic resonance imaging with contrast. A lobulated mass with cystic necrotic components on the T9 left paravertebral space that extended into the spinal column through the left neural ...

Biomechanical allometry in hominoid thoracic vertebrae
Journal of Human Evolution, 2009Considerable differences in spinal morphology have been noted between humans and other hominoids. Although comparative analyses of the external morphology of vertebrae have been performed, much less is known regarding variations in internal morphology (density) and biomechanical performance among humans and closely related non-human primates.

Anterior approach to the upper thoracic vertebrae
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1989The anterior exposure of the upper thoracic spine using standard methods is often difficult and limited. We report our experience using a technique described by Sundaresan et al. (1984) in which the medial portion of one clavicle and part of the manubrium sterni are excised. In 10 cases we found this to be a useful and safe procedure.

Chondromyxoid fibroma of two thoracic vertebrae
Skeletal Radiology, 1999We report on a case of chondromyxoid fibroma involving two adjacent thoracic vertebrae with features of aggressive behaviour on radiographs, CT and MRI. Histology revealed typical chondromyxoid fibroma with unusually coarse calcifications. Chondromyxoid fibroma of the spine is rare, and only 30 of these tumours have been reported so far. Involvement of

An anterior surgical approach to the upper thoracic vertebrae [PDF]
✓ Of the various anterior surgical approaches to the spine, exposure of the upper two thoracic vertebrae remains the most challenging. An operative approach to this region is described. The major features include resection of a portion of the clavicle and the manubrium sterni.

Comparative Exercise Physiology: The International Journal of Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics and Nutrition, 2018
There is little information about horse-saddle interaction at take-off for a fence, although there is potential that this could have an influence on performance. It was hypothesised that (1) maximum peak pressure under the saddle would occur in the phase

A transsternal approach to the upper thoracic vertebrae
The American Journal of Surgery, 1984An anterior surgical approach to the upper thoracic vertebrae has been described. A T-shaped skin incision is used, with the horizontal limb 1 cm above the clavicle, and the vertical limb extending in the midline over the body of the sternum. A portion of the manubrium sterni, as well as the medial third of the clavicle, is resected; the avacular ...

Fusion of anterior thoracic vertebrae in Pleistocene ground sloths
Historical Biology, 2018A previous study reported the fusion of spinous processes of thoracic vertebrae one and two in the ground sloth Glossotherium, proposing an injury or a congenital deformation as possible causes.

Thoracic vertebrae fracture: Is it an indicator of abdominal injury?
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2021Traumatic vertebral fracture accounts for 10-15% of trauma related admissions. While the correlation between lumbar vertebral fractures and abdominal injuries is well established, the relationship between thoracic vertebral fractures (TVF) and abdominal injuries is comparatively less well elucidated.
