A Case of Primary Pulmonary Meningioma With Slow Enlargement Over a 9‐Year Period

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Primary pulmonary meningioma (PPM) is an extremely rare benign tumour that often remains asymptomatic. Although most cases are incidentally detected as solitary pulmonary nodules on chest imaging, reports on their long‐term clinical courses remain limited. Herein, we report a case of PPM with slow growth over a nine‐year period.

Robotic‐Assisted Epiphrenic and Mid‐Oesophageal Diverticulectomy: A Tertiary Centre Experience

open access: yesThe International Journal of Medical Robotics and Computer Assisted Surgery, Volume 22, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Surgical management of oesophageal pulsion diverticula is advised when symptoms significantly impair quality of life. Robotics can aid in transhiatal dissection in diverticulectomy, but available evidence is limited. Methods A retrospective chart review of all consecutive robotic‐assisted oesophageal diverticulectomies with Heller ...

Excessive intravenous crystalloid infusion after video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery lobectomy is associated with postoperative pneumonia

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2019
Background Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery has been widely used in thoracic surgery worldwide. Our goal was to identify the risk factors for postoperative pneumonia in patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery lobectomy.

Clinical Recommendations for Remote Robotic Assisted Surgery From the CRSA 2025 International Consensus Conference

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, Volume 50, Issue 8, Page 2274-2288, August 2026.
Implementation of remote robotic‐assisted surgery (rRAS) has the potential to significantly improve access to high‐quality surgical care for patients worldwide. Advances in robotic systems and telecommunications now enable highly reliable, low latency, and cybersecure connectivity. These technological developments, together with the broader adoption of

Indicators for Monitoring Recovery From Surgery to Discharge Using Accelerometer in Patients With Esophageal Cancer

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, Volume 50, Issue 8, Page 2434-2437, August 2026.
Esophageal cancer is a highly invasive malignancy necessitating esophagectomy, which is associated with considerable postoperative morbidity and prolonged hospitalization. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols recommend early mobilization to facilitate recovery; however, objectively assessing physical activity during hospitalization remains ...

A Noncanonical MET Exon 14 Splice‐Site Variant in Pulmonary Sarcomatoid Carcinoma With Response to Capmatinib

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 15, August 2026.
We describe a patient with pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma harboring a noncanonical MET splice donor–proximal indel, initially reported as a VUS, who achieved a rapid response to capmatinib. RNA sequencing and ddPCR confirmed exon 14 skipping, supporting orthogonal transcript‐level validation for exon‐adjacent variants. ABSTRACT MET exon 14 skipping is

Management of complications in thoracoscopic surgery

open access: yesJournal of Thoracic Disease, 2018
Thoracoscopic surgery has been widely performed. However, sometimes open conversion becomes necessary to manage complications. We have been applying thoracoscopic technique to manage complications to minimize the rate of open conversion.Thoracoscopic suture technique in addition to some other technique has been used to control intraoperative bleeding ...

Prognostic Factors for Postoperative Complications. An Aggregate Protocol for 10 Observational Studies From the Danish TRIPLE‐A Cohort of 1.2 Million Surgeries

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 7, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Postoperative complications substantially increase morbidity, mortality and healthcare costs. Understanding prognostic factors is essential for risk stratification, targeted prevention strategies, and development of prediction models.
