Secondary Organising Pneumonia Among Immunocompromised Multiple Sclerosis Patients Treated With Ocrelizumab Following COVID‐19 Infection: Two Case Reports With Literature Review

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 7, July 2025.
We describe two cases of biopsy‐proven secondary OP in ocrelizumab‐treated MS patients occurring several weeks after contracting COVID‐19 infection. These patients had been on ocrelizumab for 6.5 years (latent period) before the development of OP. Withdrawal of ocrelizumab and corticosteroids resulted in clinical and radiographic recovery.

Transxiphoid hand-assisted videothoracoscopic surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND: We have performed transxiphoid hand-assisted videothoracoscopy since 1995 to allow manual palpation in bilateral lung metastasectomy. This approach was extended to other thoracoscopic procedures requiring a handport.

Intraoperative Repair of Bronchial Damage Following Robotic Segmentectomy

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 13, July 2025.
During robotic surgery, restapling the bronchial stump may be easier than closing the bronchial defect using robotic needle drivers. ABSTRACT Herein, we reported the damage of the B6 bronchial segment following apical segmentectomy of the left lower lobe for management of a typical carcinoid tumor. The defect was localized distally to the B6 origin and

Uniportal thoracoscopic surgery: from medical thoracoscopy to non-intubated uniportal video-assisted major pulmonary resections.

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2016
The development of thoracoscopy has more than one hundred years of history since Jacobaeus described the first procedure in 1910. He used the thoracoscope to lyse adhesions in tuberculosis patients.

Transesophageal pulmonary lobectomy with single transthoracic port assistance: study with survival assessment in a porcine model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS: Thoracoscopic pulmonary lobectomy is being performed in an increasing number of patients. The aims of the current study were to assess natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) as an alternative to transthoracic ...

Injectable and Sprayable Thermoresponsive Hydrogel with Fouling‐Resistance as an Effective Barrier to Prevent Postoperative Cardiac Adhesions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 23, June 20, 2025.
Postoperative cardiac adhesions lead to numerous difficulties in reoperation procedures. Here, a thermo‐responsive in situ formed hydrogel is shown to can reliably cover the wounds after a convenient spraying or injection and significantly reduce adhesion formation in primary and recurrent cardiac injury adhesion models.

Diagnostic yield of medical thoracoscopy in diagnosis of exudative pleural effusion: One year prospective study

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Chest Disease and Tuberculosis, 2014
Background: Differential diagnosis of pleural disease is often a lengthy process fraught with pitfalls. Contrary to thoracocentesis and closed pleural biopsy, thoracoscopy permits biopsy with direct visualization.

Ultrasound-Guided Abrams Pleural Biopsy vs CT-Guided Tru-Cut Pleural Biopsy in Malignant Pleural Disease, a 3-Year Follow-up Study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
PURPOSE: Conventional Abrams biopsy shows low sensitivity in suspected malignant pleural disease. There are limited data on the improvement in sensitivity by adding in image guidance. This retrospective study compares the diagnostic sensitivity of Abrams

Diagnostic value of medical thoracoscopy for undiagnosed pleural effusions

open access: yesExperimental and Therapeutic Medicine, 2018
To investigate the diagnostic value of medical thoracoscopy for the diagnosis of undiagnosed pleural effusions, a retrospective study was performed on the clinical data of 86 patients with undiagnosed pleural effusions who had medical thoracoscopy at ...

Intraoperative conversion during video-assisted thoracoscopy does not constitute a treatment failure†

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2018
OBJECTIVES Intraoperative conversion may be required during video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for lung cancer. We evaluated the morbidity and mortality rates associated with VATS for anatomical pulmonary resection with conversion to thoracotomy
