Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

Near‐Field Electrospinning Micro‐Printhead Achieves Precise Control of Nanofiber Deposition
A micro‐printhead for near‐field electrospinning enables reproducible deposition of polymer nanofibers with diameters below 50 nm. Systematic parameter studies uncover the mechanisms linking operating conditions to fiber morphology, paving the way for precise and low‐cost nanoscale 3D manufacturing. As a high‐resolution, cost‐effective, and rapid ...

A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Enhancing three-dimensional vision with three-dimensional sound
ACM SIGGRAPH 2004 Course Notes, 2004This course offers a thorough introduction to three-dimensional, multi-channel sound. Three-dimensional sound has been neglected in most VR and AR applications, even though it can significantly enhance their realism and immersion. This course explains the main concepts and the most important terms, and provides a detailed overview of the currently ...

The three-dimensional packing problem is discussed in this paper. The problem is a generalization of the one- and two-dimensional packing problems. It is demonstrated that some basic packing strategies such as NFDH and FFDH for two-dimensional packing have unbounded worst-case performance ratios in the three-dimensional case.

A mode-locked laser, a rotating beam splitter, and a streak camera are the primary components of an imager with the ability to record three-dimensional images of remote (up to several kilometers) objects in real time in broad daylight. Immediate and future applications are noted.

This article describes a self-propelled dolphin robot that aims to create a stable and controllable experimental platform. A viable bioinspired approach to generate diverse instances of dolphin-like swimming online via a center pattern generator (CPG) network is proposed. The characteristic parameters affecting three-dimensional (3-D) swimming ...

Three-dimensional echocardiography
Heart, 2009Over the past two to three decades echocardiography has come a considerable distance from the early M-mode machines, and has become an indispensable diagnostic tool in any cardiovascular department. It has long been proved to be safe and cost-effective, and its clinical versatility has steadily increased with the continued integration of newer ...

The 3D components of today’s user interfaces are still underdeveloped. Direct interaction with 3D objects has been limited thus far to gestural picking, manipulation with linear transformations, and simple camera motion. Further, there are no toolkits for building 3D user interfaces.
