An analysis of three-dimensional reconstructive echocardiography

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1984
Three-dimensional reconstructive echocardiography provides the necessary data for a complete description of cardiac structure and function. It is implemented using an inexpensive position locating device, a sector scanner, and a general purpose computer with attached image and graphics processors. Its application to the three-dimensional reconstruction

Three‐dimensional Reconstruction of the Equine Ovary

Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, 2005
SummaryThe equine ovary has a very unique structure in terms of its extreme large size, the presence of the ovulation fossa and the inverted location of its cortex and medulla. In the previous study, it was recognized that the application of three‐dimensional internal structure microscopy (3D‐ISM) to observe the mare ovary is very effective.

Three-dimensional reconstruction of neuronal forests

Neurocomputing, 2001
Abstract Three-dimensional reconstruction of neuronal forests from a coherent volumetric data set representing Golgi-stained cortical material is demonstrated. The system automates in parallel neuron feature extraction and reconstruction, replacing largely manual techniques for tracing individual neurons.

Three-dimensional craniofacial reconstruction imaging

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 2002
This review article aims to describe and discuss the imaging techniques most commonly used in medicine and dentistry to obtain three-dimensional images of the craniofacial complex. Three-dimensional imaging techniques provide extensive possibilities for the detailed and precise analysis of the whole craniofacial complex, for virtual (on-screen ...

A three-dimensional reconstruction of the human hypothalamus

Brain Research Bulletin, 1994
A previous three-dimensional reconstruction of the rat hypothalamus revealed an organization of nuclei into three major clusters. This clustering may relate to the presence of three hypothalamic anlagen in the embryo and to a restriction of marker proteins and transcription factors to specific regions of the hypothalamus during development. To see if a

Three‐dimensional reconstruction of the temporal bone

The Laryngoscope, 1990
AbstractStudy of the complex anatomy and pathology of the temporal bone has traditionally used microscopy which permits analysis in only two dimensions. Recent advances in bioimaging technology have permitted visualization and reconstruction of computed tomography images in three dimensions. We have developed a technique that applies this technology in

Three-dimensional reconstruction of the otosclerotic focus

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2009
The location and three-dimensional (3D) shapes of the otosclerotic foci suggest a general centripetal distribution of otosclerotic bone remodeling around the inner ear space, whereas the normal bone remodeling is distributed centrifugally. The existence of an inverse spatial relation between normal and otosclerotic bone remodeling suggests that inner ...

Ultrasonic three-dimensional reconstruction of the heart

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1995
The recent advances in ultrasound equipment, digital image acquisition, and display techniques made three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography a clinically feasible and exciting technique which allows objective analysis of structure and pathological conditions of complex geometry.

Three-dimensional reconstruction of ryanodine receptors

Frontiers in Bioscience, 2002
Nearly all available information on the three-dimensional structure of the ryanodine receptor (RyR) class of intracellular calcium release channels has come from electron microscopy. This review focuses on results that have been obtained by cryo-electron microscopy of purified, detergent-solubilized receptors in combination with single-particle image ...

On the three-dimensional reconstruction of icosahedral particles

Journal of Structural Biology, 2003
The problem of reconstructing an isolated particle from its projections, using spherical harmonics to represent the scattering density, is reformulated. A technique that makes explicit and efficient use of the symmetry to describe the angular part of the scattering density is developed in full detail for the particular case of icosahedral symmetry.
