Inclusion of HVDC links in the Paduan three-phase power flow (PFPD_3P) [PDF]

open access: yes2023 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2023 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe), 2023
The aim of the paper is to generalize the matrix algorithm PFPD-3P in order to evaluate the three-phase power flow of real and large AC/DC transmission networks. It is shown that the HVDC-VSC/LCC links can be seen from the AC network busses as PV/PQ constraints, which represent both the AC and DC behaviour of the HVDC links.

A Three-Phase Optimal Power-Flow Algorithm to Mitigate Voltage Unbalance

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2013
This paper describes a new methodology for three-phase electrical system optimization, in which the phase unbalances are to be taken into account. A formulation for the three-phase optimal power-flow solution was developed using the primal-dual interior point method and the three-phase current injection method in rectangular coordinates.

A voltage-adjustable three-phase rectifier with constant power flow [PDF]

open access: yes2008 Twenty-Third Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2008
An three phase adjustable output voltage rectifier with constant power flow based on waveform gap patching principle is resented. By patching the gapes in the phase currents in parallel way as well as the ripple of the output voltage in series way, it implements the constant power flow from the three-phase line to the DC output without using any line ...

A Linear Three-Phase Load Flow for Power Distribution Systems

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2016
This letter proposes a linear load flow for three-phase power distribution systems. Balanced and unbalanced operation are considered as well as the ZIP models of the loads. The methodology does not require any assumption related to the $R/X$ ratio. Despite its simplicity, it is very accurate compared to the conventional back-forward sweep algorithm.

Improved Three-Phase Power-Flow Methods Using Sequence Components [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2005
The paper presents the formulation and the solution of the three-phase power-flow problem using sequence components. An improved sequence component transformer model and a decoupled sequence line model were used.

Three-phase Power Flow for FRIENDS Network

2005 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2005
A new three-phase power flow calculation method is developed. The Gauss Seidel method is employed to calculate three-phase power flow. The methods can take the connection of a number of single-phase distributed generators into account and can handle loop systems.

Unbalanced Three-Phase Optimal Power Flow for Smart Grids

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2011
Advanced distribution management system (DMS), an evolution of supervisory control and data acquisition obtained by extending its working principles from transmission to distribution, is the brain of a smart grid. Advanced DMS assesses smart functions in the distribution system and is also responsible for assessing control functions such as reactive ...

Three-phase optimal harmonic power flow

IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1996
A new three-phase optimal-harmonic-power-flow (TOHPF) method is proposed. It is designed to minimise the three-phase power losses and the total three-phase harmonic voltage distortion while satisfying the three-phase-power-flow equations, three-phase harmonic-power-flow equations, three-phase security constraints, and the three-phase harmonic standard ...

A three-phase unbalanced power flow solution with three-phase distribution transformers

2011 4th International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies (DRPT), 2011
A three-phase layered power flow solution has been here developed, which can handle distribution transformers with various common winding connections in unbalanced system of multi-voltage levels. In the proposed solution, a sensitivity constant incident matrix between node voltages and injection currents was derived based on path matrix, then a simple ...

A Hybrid Three-Phase Single-Phase Power Flow Formulation

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2008
This paper presents a hybrid power flow formulation unifying three-phase and single-phase (positive sequence) models. Positive sequence modeling is considered at the transmission level network and three-phase modeling is considered at the distribution level. A passive interface between these networks is proposed.
